I would like a backup AEG / 2nd gun to use at CQB sites.

Although I have only been to 2 woodland sites, I have seen a lot of MP5's / G36c and M4 CQB types...However, I would like a AK

What are the pros / Cons of this?

I really like the look and the fact its got pretty much everything i need - Nice pistol grip and front grip, so I can just whack on my aimpoint and im good to go.

Is it a good buy? waste of money? or better options out there?

I too really like ak's but for me I'd have to have full wood style - too me me just seems better, as for that ak it looks very nice and I really like. I'm also having this dilemma as I'm have a sniper load out and I'm still deciding on a aeg load out and have decided I don't want a m4/m16 - too common, also I like sa80's especially since there used by British forces but decent ones arnt cheap and susats are well expensive ^^ so as a first aeg I was considering ak/ g36 BUT I don't think I could bring myself to buy an ak like this when you can get this....

Is 600g+ lighter, has a folding stock aswell instead of an adjustable one, but it has a higher torque motor and bigger 8mm bearings for the motor which iirc allow the motor to handle a greater load and in this case it puts less stress on the motor plus it's £40 cheaper and for grips are relatively cheap so with that saving that will pay for for grip + ammo or whatever...

G36 pros;

More practical imo, Better motor ( higher torque) and bigger bearings, upgraded piston, lighter, folding stock ( great for cqb), iirc g36 mags have special clips that allow them to be clipped together ( dual mags style)

G36 cons; aesthetically not as nice looking as ak IMO

Ak pros; better looking IMO, Already comes with a forgrip

Ak cons; heavier ( some people like heavy guns so this to some people would be considered a pro)

Less powerfull motor, smaller bearings

At the end of the day it's up to you, but I reckon the g36 would be the best option...

Having said that I reckon which ever one you get you will be happy with...

OK. So you want a tactical AK for a sub £200 budget. Then there is only one company worth even considering and that's CYMA

I will give you the pro's and cons:

pro

its cyma, brilliant bullet proof, AK 's

it full metal has loads of rails and a foregrip

cons

its full metal and a bit heavy, however you get used to it.

battery insertion is a bit of a fiddle as the top rail flips up, remove top cover and insert battery. 9.6v batteries from component shop are a tight fit as they are a bit fatter than the one that comes with it

it will be firing at 420 fps, so will require a spring downgrade, so add a tenner for that

foregrip is a fold under job. I swapped it for a fixed one as there is a bit of movement

I love mine, get some funny looks with all the crap on it (RDS, laser, torch, grip), but my ICS stays a spare now and I use my AK all the time. I like the wood ones as well, but the tactical one is just a bit different. Can be used as a full size rifle in woodland or folded up for cqb fun with a full length barrel

Now to the SRC

Its a gen 2. Nothing too wrong with that , but the gen 3 are better

folding stocks are prone to break as they are pot metal and snap and a PITA the try to get a replacement for (been there done that)

it's not a cyma... sorry, but the only better manufacturer of a AK in the sub £500 bracket would be real sword, and they don't do tactical (well if you can find one they used to)

It looks like its an AKSU (short version) rather than the full length one (which the cyma is)

So I would go for this instead, spend an extra £20-35 on a AK ris kit and go from there

as you now have a folding stock, (lot more sturdy) and you have a cyma.

The cyma AKSU are renown as cracking little guns that just go on and on, like 40-50,000 bb's and still going strong!

Yea I like the cyma ak series and there tactical is better than SRC IMO, however if I had to have one I'd have the larger one, not a big fan of aks74u's but that's personal preference....

Do you know if you can get a ris kit for the CYMA aks? A quick google says people are having issue due to this not having a metal rod

I have found some on ehobbyaisia but they are out of stock. King arms do do a ris set, but not for the 74su and the 47u don't fit without some dremeling.

However if you just want to bung an a RDS to a 74su, then get one of these

though you may have to replace the top cover as the sight is integral to the top cover and will interfere with the battery replacement.

TBH. If you get a folding stock full size AK, then you will have the best of both worlds. Or if you do want a 74u then just get a top cover with rail attatched (another ebay find!)

Yea I agree get the big ak47 but get one with collapsible or foldable stock and indefinitely will have beat of both worlds but since it's bigger ak - u get longer barrel
