Star/Ares M14 SOPMOD

Okay, so I have a Star Sopmod. It was put away working, and been in it's hardcase for years.

I am paranoid that if used, the (unique) motor will go and it'll be a paperweight.

It has had gears go before but they were not unique to the model.

I have sourced a supplier of the Ares V2 SOPMOD motor - $22 no less - and hopefully over V2 parts.

My query is...how compatible are V1/V2 parts?!

I'd love to use it again but really don't want to irrepairably knacker it.

Write it off as a lost cause and get a CYMA one from Taiwangun.

Seriously though, what makes you think that a) it will magically stop working and B) that the motor is so unique? (genuine question by the way I've not seen the inside of the Star ones)

The motor has is unique to that model - very long shaft.

I may have sourced some spares...
