Spring change, now too hot!! ?

So,

Last week I took advantage of the few hours I had spare whilst Mrs Puceflange was out with her girlie chums for festive drinks and nibbles, and stripped my NGRS 416 down to install an Eagle 6 M100 spring

Whilst it was apart I took advantage of the situation to clean and re lube everything

I got to test it today over the Chrono, and was surprised at the consistency 

Its a little to hot……

will the spring soften a bit with a few hundred rounds and drop the fps?

(tested with the hop set for .2’s)

I've mostly found my springs settle down a little, and I lose up to 15fps (assuming a 0.2g), usually takes a month or so. Presuming though that you haven’t got an enormous inner barrel, and that you intend to use something heavier than the 0.2s that you Chrono'd with, one might think that when the hop is set for heavier BBs, you might scrub off the rather small amount of power that you need to lose?

Using it on auto, and stopping mid cycle may leave the spring cocked back under tension, which if left that way for a few days would likely also reduce its power somewhat.

Yeah, I usually put either .28’s or .30’s through it

I rattled off a couple of mags in the garden earlier, so next chance I get, I will try some .28’s through it, adjust the hop accordingly, and see what joule it wants to give me

As long as it’s under the 1.2j limit for sites , I’m happy

It was waaaay low before the change (like 265~ on .2’s) ?

Hopefully the TM Fairy’s are still entrapped

if you own a wider/slightly shorter inner barrel you could temporarily swap it until the energy stabilizes.

As a last-ditch expedient, you can remove the hop unit spring and see if that worsens the air seal (urgh, it feels dirty even saying that).  Final last-ditch, stack some tape between the gearbox or hop unit  It could mess with your feeding or consistency, but it might at least get you playing.

Im going to try and put a few hundred rounds through it tomorrow

Fortunately enough, I’m able to fire from inside the house up into the garden so as not to annoy the neighbours too much, then I’ll have another try with some proper weights to see if it’s settled down any.

Next game day is in two weeks, so I have some time on my hands to tinker with it

(Maybe I should have just fitted an m90 spring and been satisfied with those results) ??‍
