Proposed uk laws

Mods - Can we move this to the 'UK Law' section. Would make it more accessible and relevant than in the General Discussion melting pot.

Good news for airsoft community if there is an Airsoft exemption written in law with clear explanation and guidelines.

This actually seems pretty reasonable, although I'm not sure who came up with the 1 joule lethality definition.

1J guns are capable of causing serious injury on those not wearing appropriate protective equipment.

no, but that's the dictionary definiton of lethality not the legal one :)

Lethal is defined as likely to cause serious bodily injury or death. While a 1J airsoft gun in of itself is unlikely to do that, fire one point blank at someone's eyeball and you can guarantee serious bodily injury will occur, as usual the law is catering for the lowest common denominator.

This is an example of law-making going right, a sensible approach, consulting the group's to be affected, and making clear, sensible suggestions far from knee-jerk, "ban all toy guns" reactions to media stories.

As its suggested there, airsoft would hardly be affected at all, perhaps we would see a unification of site fps limits as well

if it were officially laid down in law I expect that sites would have to start measuring power based on muzzle energy rather than FPS too, which would please me greatly!
