Projects over the next year or so.

It is standard 14mm positive threading.

RIS people! RIS! Forget I said anything about the barrel lol.

It's m14 x 1, I've looked already.

And get the ARES RIS, it's the best quality you're going to get without buying a whole front set (G&P).

I don't know which RIS you mean! Ares make a load of different ones, I can't find a 7" M4 RIS set I like the look of.

I'm after something similar to the M5 RAS kit your M16 is fitted with. Except M4 sized, obv.

The one I linked to previously, when you asked for it! How can you not find any you like the look of? They're all the same - black (or grey), two piece (top and bottom), help in by delta ring and handguard cap, 7 inches long, and have numbered rails (cheaper ones don't). I suggested ARES because they're gun-grey rather than black and they have numbered rails.

Here's the link again: http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/ares-m4ris-kit

Are you going to the NAE? You need shooting.

No I'm not, can't afford it.

Or this build...

I'm going to have to rewire if I get the RIS and I can't really be arsed to do it... Also I don't have an armourers wrench, so I can't even fit it.

On my imminent "To buy" list, I've got:

6 more Emags

That RIS (I think I'll go for it over the other ones)

A tight bore - 6.01 (I'm mythbusting the jamming rumours)

And another LLM

Which comes to about £350+

Prioritising is a bitch.

I've not even found a barrel yet, I need it to be 16 inches long - about 400mm, or less and have an ID of 6.01... Anyone know of any?

You suck, I wanted you to be the first person on the receiving end of my sniper once it's upgraded.

I can find you an inner barrel: http://www.x-fire.org/etop/01.html

Second section, "For AEG/Tokyo Marui"

For "M4 SPORTER", length 420mm, cost 9870 JPY (£80.57).

It's the 17th one down.

Why do you need an armourer's wrench?

Re-wiring isn't too bad anyway, get a V2 ASCU :P

I need to rewire to the stock tube though, which I've no idea how to do... 'Cos there's a f*ck-off screw going through the receiver end of it to attach it to the gun...

Gonna need a drill to do it I think. Can't see any other way of doing it. I need an armourer's wrench to get the barrel out so I can (get someone else to) cut it shorter.

I also thought I'd need it for the RIS, but since I'm now getting that Ares RIS, I imagine it isn't as important anymore.

Can't see the appeal in the ASCU anymore really. I only wanted one before to get a burst mode, but I want auto with the L119. Trigger response is spot on as it is, so the only point in it I can see is to make the wiring less of a pain and I'm not paying £60+ just to save myself some minor grief.

Have you had the stock tube off the gun yet? It's quite simple really..

You don't need an armourer's wrench, I've managed to get barrels out using Allen keys and screw drivers, put it in the delta ring and then force it and it'll unscrew.

My AR-15 barrel nut spanner is from gunner airsoft, really not expensive at all. Very chunky metal, seen quite a lot of use in its' intended role and I've used it more times than I care to remember as a hammer when drifting out various roll/spring pins; still going strong. You can probably pick one up on ebay at a guess, and either way if you get a 7.4 nun-chuck lipo you can put a battery inside a KAC type RIS handguard.

I guess it makes sense to at least try and ram a LiPo in there before looking into rewiring it. I'll have to wait and see how the situation fairs once the RIS arrives.

As for the stock tube rewiring job, I haven't actually had it off yet. I guess I'm just making assumptions based on my M16 related experiences...

Stealing screw drivers from work because I didn't own one long enough to fit down the stock... lol.

My stock came loose on my M16 and i had the exact same problem, such a long way down and such a small screw, loads of drill extension bars taped together did it for me.

RIS, LLM and tightbore are on the way to me now.

I think my next purchase will be some sort of front grip and a pad for the stock.

Anyone advise a grip and know of a place to get the stock pad?

Photos of the build as it stands.

Currently it's borrowing all the accessories and the mags from my L85, it also doesn't have a motor in the grip as I've not managed to wire it yet <_<

But it's getting there.

I've covered the trades with electrical tape for the photos and I managed to screw the barrel extension on after about half an hour of very careful, slowly tightening and untightening of the screw. My hands are in agony lol.

After all that, the inner barrel I bought is about half an inch too long and can be seen through the slots in the flash hider, so once I get the original outer barrel cut down to the correct length, the inner barrel is going to be too long. <_<

Due for its next skirmish on the 18th.

Ok first of all, this isn't necroposting because it's MY thread!

What I want to know is, what are the 1 point slings called that we use with L85s in Afghanistan? I'm pretty sure they're of Magpul design and I know that they consist of two clips, one that fastens to the gun and one that fastens to your rig around the firing shoulder.

The actual sling is barely half a foot long, it's basically tethering the gun to your firing shoulder, from what I can make out.

Anyone know where I can get one? Links?

Reason being, I've got that many things going around my upper chest and neck area, like my comms leads and camelbak... straw...(? Lol.) that can catch on a standard 3 point sling that I just need something that won't get in the way so much.

Help appreciated.

By the way, the L119 is for sale in the above state, minus the ACOG, grip pod and Emags.

It's locked up at the minute and auto was set up wrong so it fired the first shot in semi, so I can't unlock it... Not without stripping the gearbox anyway, and I'll be damned if I'm doing that.

It's a G&P M4 Commando base + custom barrel extension, Guarder 7" RIS and it's been rewired to the stock tube... Badly I might add.

LLM is included with the package as well, however the pressure pad is broken and the lens that covers the laser has gone. It still functions fine otherwise though, from what I can remember. It takes two CR123A batteries.

The gun's also shooting at around 370fps with the stock barrel and I think it's got a madbull blue rubber in it.

It cost me about £390 to put together and the LLM was £70 but I'm open to offers to account for the current condition.

I would put this in the guns for sale section, but if no one goes for it I'll hold onto it, so consider it a limited offer.
