Hello can anyone tell me what the steel wire is for in plate carriers? Its just i can't see wht purpose it would serve

Quick release system... a plate carrier is heavy, if you were in water and drowning it allows you to get it off easily I believe.

Ok makes sense. I found a lot of reveiws on line but none that told me what the wire was for. Cheers ?
