Pistol considerations. Need some help.

My AEP is in its component pieces, awaiting yet another Quixotic attempt to make it usable.

As stock, they're all about 0.4J / 200fps with 0.2g, maybe a fraction more.  As noted, the semi auto trigger response is poor, even when running them on lipo.  The cheaper ones that come with nimh batteries have truly dreadful semi response, and given that they're only really usable in CQB due to the low energy, you'll always be at a big disadvantage in any snap-shot duel.

They do work, after a fashion, but you'll always be disappointed with them.

I'll ask this one then.

1st off why do you want a pistol? Sure rule of cool, and they are a lot of fun to use but why?

Cheaping out: most of us have been there, the want is strong, but again, £60 odd is a couple of game days rather than having to save again.

Don't let the money wear a hole in your pocket.

I picked up a 2nd hand we f226, it's a blast and some days that is all I take to a game day (not wholly true, but it's what works when I get there). It cost £120 and came with extra mags.

So my advice would be put the £60 in a coffee can and get a decent gbb pistol.

I bought a CYMA CM030 AEP about 11 years ago. It's light, as it's all plastic and the trigger is not great, generally feels kind of fake.

But I really enjoyed playing with it and it served me well in skirmishes. It doesn't shoot hot and it's best using 0.2g with hop up adjusted. At distances 10-15 metres it shoots just fine.

No need to worry about leaky mags. I even bought a long mag holding around 100 bbs and it was so fun to shoot. It also shoots full auto.

I hadn't used it for 9 years and recently I decided to test it. It worked just fine! Even after so many years of no use, no maintenance at all, the battery was fuctionable, the bbs where shooting straight and has no issues.

As others have posted, AEPs are generally a bit shit and not really worth it unless you just want filler for a holster, which at that point you might as well get a cheap springer. With many you'll have better range and accuracy throwing the pistol.

Unless you're playing cqb or using a higher power gun with a MED then pistols aren't that useful and will spend 99% of the time in the holster. An extra mag or two for your primary would be more useful and not take up more space.

I’m not in the most stable financial position right now, so the cheap AEP as a one-off cost seems like the best way to feed the airsoft addiction and still feed myself.
If your situation is really that bad then stop looking at buying anything. Sure buying a new toy will give you that short term happiness from the dopamine hit, but it won't last and you'll be back where you started, just £60 worse off. Of core this comes with a massive dose of do as I say, not as I do.
