Just picked up an lpvo, what sre peoples thoughts on a piggyback red dot vs offset? I understand hop will be a factor but im not sure id be using the red dot at a distance where itll be affected by hop. Thoughts?

I tried using a 45° offset mount and couldn't get on with it. Now i only run them above scopes on a forward mount, i find it much better and more comfortable, and quicker/easier to raise and get the dot on target.

Offset mount:

Piggyback, i found i ended up using the dot pretty much as default with the scope relegated to honesty checking.

Airsoft doesnt have the range to go beyond what a dot or even irons can be effectively used.

Going canted locks you into the dot only being usable at ranges where vague barrel sighting/instinct shooting is effective.

In airsoft, an Offset mount limits the range you can use the red dot a fair bit more (out of the two options), but hey if you're certain you'll only use it very, very close and you think it looks cool then why not.
The very large distance between bore line and red dot with Piggy is a lot less of an issue in airsoft than firearms, and you never induce a hop issue, but still might need to aim high when very close and going for a small target.
3rd option is save money and weight on the gun by using your optic 1x or just point shooting under ~15-20m or so using the classic cheat of every white bb being a 'tracer'. Build might not look as cool though.
