That's because airsoft is serious. In fact it's the most serious of all serious things and anyone who cracks a joke or even smiles in the AO should be flogged and then banned from all sites 😁

I think alot of it is down to the fact that inferring tone from text can be difficult at times. Although some people couldn't recognise a joke if it came with warnings. For example one of the YouTube channels I watch is a D&D channel where they also act out parts of the game in front of a green screen. In session 1 they were discussing a piece of forgery equipment where 1 player (a woman) had suggested it, only for another player (a guy) who hadn't heard her then suggested the same. In the green screen they then had the woman character do a feminist rant which was obviously satirical but the comments section was full of idiots whining about having woke propaganda forced on them

There is a right amount of serious to take airsoft.

Serious enough to play fair, follow the rules, but not so serious you cant have a laugh when you get snuck up on by someone in a deadpool onesie.

That is for regular skirmishes, fair enough if you're going to a milsim then you're signing up for being a super cereal pretend soldier.

End of the day the whole point is to have fun, so long as your fun doesnt require ruining someone elses day.

Pretty much this. Everyone is allowed to have fun in their own way, which will be different from person to person. I, for example, try to keep my kit as authentic as possible, only use gas guns, and carry far more sustainment kit than I need for a regular skirmish because it's what I enjoy from the hobby. However, if someone is going to bring milsim expectations to a skirmish and tries to tell the HPA AAP wielding pink unicorn hoodie wearing speedyboi that he's playing wrong, or vice versa, then that person is the aforementioned dick.
