New in Kent!!!!!!!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself as i have taken the plunge and trying my hand at airsoft. Me and my step dad have booked a day airsofting and have gone out and brought the clothing for this.

As new to this hobby just wanted to know anything to look out for and stay away from!!!!!!

Welcome to the forum. Great, you've started. Be warned - its likely your step dad will get the bug worse than you lol.

As sais elsewhere, try not to buy too much until you played a few games. Many of us have kit that we thought was a good idea at the time, but never use. If i could have my time again, I would be less impulsive.

Decent supportive foot wear is a must! More so in woodland but still a requirement in cqb due to the quick direction changes and diving for cover! Plus nothing will ruin a new hobby as much as a broken ankle!

Essentials

- (Camo or block 'military colours' if possible) Gloves, hat, scarf/scrim/shemagh/snood.

- Decent eye protection.

- Decent footwear.

- Warm socks/t-shirt.

After that, and if you've enjoyed it, aim to buy Tokyo Marui guns to start off with, as they are reliable and if left alone, should allow you to avoid the 'buy cheap, buy twice' adage. Then look at a vest/chest rig/webbing to slug stuff around in, a sling, a holster, some camouflage or tactical gear...a gun bag...ammunition...gas...

...once you've got the bug...

Also don't aim to buy TM, some of the most expensive aeg's out there! Nothing wrong with G&G, G&P, Krytec etc just do your research!

Actually they are hugely over rated. There are several manufacturers that are producing better guns for less money like krytac,real sword, some ics and a few others. Tm recoils are nice guns and the recoil and bolt stop are nice functions but the PTS RM4 has those for a lot less money. Range, accuracy, reliability and trigger response are only average compared to a lot of stuff on the market now.

Nice guns yes but the best thats very debatable.

I have no doubt that other brands are very good.

But if you want something that is more expensive than an entry G&G but less expensive than a Real Sword, that should be reliable if left stock, then TM is that brand. Granted, not sure how good the EBBs are (fired a SCAR H last Sunday and was hugely impressed) in the long run, but I would always advise TMs.

Doesn't matter whether its on a forum or not its still true. Tm aegs are out performed by a lot other stock aeg's.

They are no more reliable or accurate than any of the other big brands and some of the smaller ones. There is a lot of rose tinted glasses and not moving with the times in airsoft.

Tm aegs were the best and are still a very good gun but things change.

Gbb pistols its still TM though.

Real swords are £350 to £400 so cheaper than TM recoils.

Even in the reliability front they are starting to fall behind. The quality of materials used internally isn't the best and the motors are average at best.They are well put together though which is why they work so well.

Not hating on TM as the high cycles are great CQB guns and the recoil series are really nice, I still get tempted to hit the buy button on the g36 recoil at least once a month.

Just think there are lots of other choices that are better value for money and recommendations should cover that.

To the op most most big brands will be pretty reliable and will serve you well as for necessary gear;

Decent eye/face protection

Gloves

Good footwear preferably boots

Everything else is just down to choice you dont need camo or specialist tactical clothing to play just wear stuff that is hard wearing and comfortable.

Welcome buddy - Did you go to Apocalypse Sunday 20th March? - if so I was there! & was on the Blue team

How did you find it & get on? As others have stated, don't buy too much initially as you'll be finding your feet as to what works for you & what doesn't.

Good thing about Kent is that we have a plethora of decent sites, my opinion is that you cannot go wrong at Apocalypse, huge site, constantly being developed with impressive structures & a very solid Head Marshal in the guise of Big Jon Davies who keeps everyone in line!
