So the new hpa pistol is released from gate

Any opinions ? Is goona be the new wanker gun to take over the mtw ? How long before a ghillie rocks up at local field using it as a dmr šŸ˜‚

Tbh this is the first I've heard of it so I Googled it. From purely a performance angle it looks impressive. However the lack of blowback would put me off though and the 50rps is just overkill and not to mention useless in game without a hell of a lot of spare mags, even at 80 or 120 rounds each.

Lookswise imo been severly beaten with the ugly stick and looks like something a 4 year old would draw.

I can see it being popular with the speedsofters, but it wouldn't surprise me if carbine kits start to appear soon

My Dad and I put our pre orders down as soon as the first batch was released on BZ Tactical. I was already eyeing it up and following its development stages on Gates Instagram as I frequently use HPA tapped gas pistols as a backup to my MTW so the PTX seemed like a no brainer and a very good gap in the market. The rate of fire seem like it can go up to an excessive amount so I’m hoping I can switch the auto to binary in the future, however very excited for the first batch to be dispatched.

Can't wait to see Little Timmy the Rental getting hosed by this point blank, (it's on semi bro I'm just feathering the trigger).

I think it runs into the usual HPA pistol problem where you're only going to use a pistol close up anyway unless you build it out into being a bad SMG/carbine. At which point you've defeated the purpose of having a pistol.

So the advertised rate of fire just gives it a twatty reputation in advance for CQB use.

Fortunately at £700 its hopefully going to be prohibitively expensive. I would hope that the overlap of pie charts between "£700+ hpa set up disposable income" and "absolute cheb-end who thinks 1second burst at 50rps at point blank isn't overkill" isn't going to be that big...

Jaeger has posted an unboxing video of it . Aparantly there are some issues with the first batch , some of which involve replacing the engine aparantly .

Odd looking thing , not my cup of tea , but each to their own.

Well colour me not surprised. When will airsoft manufacturers realise that using paying customers as beta testers hurts their business in the long run? Especially when the gun in question isn't far from the monthly rent for a 1 bedroom flat in some parts of the country.

Yes, venting the air tank through the muzzle is not a great start!

Why, why, why!!!
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should

Rigging up a remote line on a pistol is ridiculous, it takes a nice compact system easily used at arms stretch, and cripples it with a tethered hose line or at least disbalences it

Ignore that ā€œjust because I can, I have done many timesā€ and remember ā€œDo as I say, not as I doā€

I have HPA’d pistols in paintball, first with the Tiberius T8 which is fed from the magazine, so instead of having multiple magazines each with their own 12 gram, I saved on using up 12 grams by having one HPA fed magazine but then had to reload the magazine every time I emptied it
Pointless
The optimum way to use the T8 as a main was to carry 3 magazines, use the integrated clicker to track 3 refills before needing to change 12
gram in each magazine and I did successfully use it as a primary in games

Next the Tippman TPX/TiPX. This takes its 12gram under the barrel so can be converted to HPA for pretty much endless air and as many magazines as I can carry, which is a practical solution but a remote line tether is annoying.
If using as a primary with 13 gram CO2 as designed it had the problem that the CO2 would run out at the wrong time as opposed to being able to manage the Tiberius separate magazines

I ā€˜solved’ that by under mounting a 13ci cylinder under the barrel with a short air line - giving me a ā€˜forward heavy’ pistol
That was fun to use, but the practical way to use a TPX as a main is to have two as twin pistols on 12 grams

As mentioned these types of things will only have any ā€˜practicality’ by building up as a carbine etc, which takes away the point of being a pistol in the first place - let alone the cost to start off
(But we do like our toys - so another option for those of us with too fat wallets and / or credit cards calling out our names and probably ending up sat at the back of the cupboard)

Image below to show my under barrel cylinder ā€˜solution’
As you can see this solved the problem of having an HPA remote line tethered to me to get tangled in the woods, just ignore and pretend that the tether line to avoid losing a dropped pistol is not there

I do these things so that others don’t have to

I wonder what RPS the VFC Glock 18Cs fire at? šŸ¤”

(It's a bit wankerish but i love mine.)

Airsoft has a nice solution to compact gas supply, pre-gas your magazines from an aerosol etc

I have tried out HPA with a sealing fill nipple and tested pre-gassing then removing the HPA, I can’t remember how many shots but it was ineffective as HPA drops pressure

Airsoft pistols have a nice balance that less energy is required to fire a BB than a paintball, so a green gas or even 12 gram CO2 should give you a good shot count to produce an effective pistol
