New DMR? I'm open to suggestions

im only going to skirmish high wycombe and havent heard them saying anything about DMR’s having to be single shot only however this is good to have in mind.

my SVD is a bolt action, im probably selling it as it needs to be serviced and incant be arsed hahaha
Then the first thing you need to do is ask them what their rules on DMRs are. There's no point spending money building a gun if it turns out you can't use it.

Fair enough about the SVD. I forgot there's spring versions

If you can't be bothered to service your svd have you thought about the maintenance and upgrades required for a dmr. They all require time and/or more money at some point.

I get it if you've fallen out of love with the svd for a valid reason, but if it's a "I don't want to tech" than I have some bad news for you about maintaining something you want to be precise and reliable.

Also that range on your ssr4 seems short, you should be getting about 50m at 1.1j. are you sure something isn't wrong with it?

Another option is the Cyma SVD if you'd stay with the platform. the newer versions have a Quick change spring and uprated internals

Locked to single shot and is easily capable of DMR power, OTB they do around 350fps but after changing the spring mine does 1.8j on a .43

Airsoft sites assume a certain amount of knowledge (although they shouldn't).  Anything capable of over 1.3J (with any ammo, not just what you choose to use) must be single shot, as a matter of law, not site rules. Over 1.3J and auto is (legally speaking) a Section 5 firearm, not an airsoft gun, and notionally has the same penalty as being caught with a real firearm.

If you want a DMR (over 1.3J by law, or over the 1.13-1.2J site limit for AEGs) , it must be limited to single shot in some way - it's up to sites to decide what methods they'll accept.

I use a variety of DMRs - AEG, and gas. I have the SSX303 - out the box I quickly found it totally uplayable due to wild inconsistency and rapid drop off in power with cool-down of the mags. Now I have an Airtac shotgun shell HPA adapter in it+ a tridos hop arm to tighten up the accuracy, and it is really superb. Almost silent with a silencer on it too.

But - I have just as much fun with an AEG DMR. With the Cyma SR25 it is extremely easy to mechanically semi lock it by adding a large washer between the gearbox and the receiver, held in place by sliding the rear body pin through it. it works by restricting the movement of the selector plate, and is 100% reversible too. Its a long heavy beast though....
