My playstyle is typically really mobile, including laying down or getting into the bushes - and with the November rain coming up I thought I’d start using tape.

Does it generally help with wetter weather or more of an aesthetic thing?

In my experience tape like that only helps with grip if the area you're putting it on is smooth plastic. What it's good at is absorbing water and unraveling so it can get caught on bushes

If anything , I’d be putting ranger bands on the grips, a couple of them twisted and layered will provide grip and not absorb moisture

I have my MP7 set up with that exact same handguard and foregrip, funnily enough.

They're plenty grippy for a mildly damp day. Not sure if you're planning to join the SBS and become a frogman or something.

When I had mine, I felt the pistol grip was a bit, plasticy and bendy and adding some tape made it feel a bit more rigid.

Unless you're planing on adding hand warmers I can't see it doing anything to improve performance.

Don’t bow down to peer pressure, do what’s best for you

Nobody is going to see it when your mitts are all over it on the field, and that’s when comfort and grip matters!

Another suggestion, if it’s grip you want , would be to Stipple it with a soldering iron

There’s hundreds of videos on YT showing how to do it, in loads of different styles

Start off on the vert grip, as that’s easier to replace if you fcuk it up 👍

Tape is not tape is not tape. There's a million different kinds out there.

Hockey tape is popular on firearms for the same reason it is in said sport - very grippy, tough, not too prone to holding water to my knowledge. There's a 'tactically oriented variant' called Goon Tape (cringe) which sells pretty well over the pond.

Skateboard tape is of course a classic in this area which has been bodged on to firearms for decades because, again, mega rough texture, super hard wearing and I think it's waterproof or certainly resilient enough for the purpose at hand.

The McNett/self adhesive camo stuff is also a big one that you can see used over and over again by civvie shooters, SF guys etc etc on key areas around foregrips and on handguards/securing tape switch cables. Just picked some up myself, has a very textured surface to it and can last a long while.
