Kit list for Airsoft weekend events

So, all you friendly guys on these forums',

I'll be attending an Airsoft weekender on the 1st & 2nd of June and am putting together a kit list of everything I'll need, so far it is as follows:

• Gun(s)
• Gear (Load carrying, boots, gloves, camo's, etc)
• A tent (as I'm staying on site)
• Gas stove (to cook food on)
• Frying pan/kettle (to cook food and brew in)
• Sleeping bag & roll mat
• Some MRE's and BAAAAACONNN! (for high energy consumption and awesome breakfast)
• Water & Beer
• Charger and adapter to use in cigarette lighter
• Battery(s)
• Some spare ammo
• Spare eye & face protection (just in case)
• And of course you need to take some banter with you

So that's my list so far, any additions, advice, or subtraction are welcome.

Towel.

Don't skimp on the water - get a 5L bottle of spring water from a supermarket or a folding container to carry it from a tap.

You'll want a cup for brews & (since you're in a car) another one to be friendly.

Eating irons and a sharp knife.

More than 1 torch.

Since you're in a car it doesn't matter but flameless ration heaters are pretty good if you're going with MRE's (so long as you put exactly the right amount of water in them and wrap them in something like a towel while they heat the food) and they're lighter than a camping stove & gas. But get the Large green ones not the US issue ones b/c they're a bit sh!t.

High carb snacks like biccies and/or grapes and also sweets to keep your mouth moist if you have to exert yourself.

Edit to add: more tent pegs than you strictly need.

Bin bag for rubbish.

Supermarket plastic bags to tie to your guy ropes to stop people not seeing them and falling over them...

Moist arse wiping material. You probably won't have access to proper washing facilities, it's amazing how refreshing it is to be able to wipe clean with a moist wipe, and helps to stop you going home smelling like a tramp! I usually go with baby wipes, but there are several brands that are specifically designed for adult arse wiping. Also great for getting rid of solid dirt.

Take a big pot of alcohol hand gel to sterilise your hands after wiping down with wet wipes and before preparing food or dealing with any injuries.

At least one full change of clothes, packed in a waterproof bag. There's nothing worse than being stuck in wet gear as you will get cold and be uncomfortable. As an absolute minimum you want fresh underwear and socks, and a fresh t-shirt to change in to before heading home.

Good advice re hygiene, Scoob. I tend to forget stuff like that because its in my permanent airsoft '1st aid cum carcass management' pouch. I'll list it for the sake of this thread's potential as a resource.

Standard Molle Medic Pouch contains:

Stainless Steel Clothing / Bandage Scissors (shaped blunt tip for sliding next to skin)
SS Pointed Dissection Scissors
SS Curved Toothed Forceps
Large Plastic Tweezers

Alcohol Hand Gel 50ml
10 x Alcohol Swabs
1 x Large Wet Wipe Stylee Rag in Ziploc Bag
1 x Small Nivea Moisturising Wipe (you may laugh but it's good for chafed skin, pre-blister soreness, & mild sunburn)
Small Pack of Tissues.

1 x 10x10cm Melolin Dressing
Roll of 50mm Micropore Tape
1m+ of 50mm Fabric Plaster Strip
Few Small Plasters
Wrist Splint Wrap (could double as a bandage)
Spare Rizlas in Ziploc Bag (apart from the peace of mind they offer a smoker, they are very good at stopping bleeding)
Roll of LX Insulation Tape


1 LED Button Sized Torch
25ml Specs Cleaning Fluid & Cloth

Folding Reading Glasses (usually in a shirt pocket)

10 x 200mg Ibuprofen
10 x 500mg Paracetamol
10 x 50mg Tramadol

Small 60ml Ultrathon Mozzie Repellant Lotion

Depending on circumstances I also sometimes add some/all of:

Sterile Wound Dressing Pack (hypo-alergenic gloves, gauze, sterile field, apron, etc.)
SS Curved Pointed Dissection Scissors
SS Scalpel Handle & 1 x #10 + 1 x #11 Sterile Blades
Large SS Angled Toothed Tweezers
1 x Large & 1 x Medium Sterile Sutures
50ml Lidocaine Spray
30ml Pre-Diluted Dettol Spray (which I intend to replace with Iodine Tincture)
30ml Boiled Water Spray (which I should replace with a couple of sterile ampules)
1 x British Army Issue First Field Dressing
1 x British Army Issue Combat Application Tourniquet
1 x 50mm Gauze Bandage

Ian, either you're a medic or are friends with some dodgy people. Tramadol is not something I'd recommend people to carry as a matter of course, it's not easy to get hold of (should be impossible in the UK without a prescription) and can have some strange effects on people.

I do always carry co-codamol, but the over the counter strength, 8/500. These are for my rare but debilitating migraines (although they're damn good for hangovers too) where I need a potent painkiller down my neck as soon as I spot the first signs, if I don't want to lose a whole day.

As you're in the car, weight is not really an issue, so a decent tool kit would be useful. Take about three times as many bb's as you think you'll need, three times as many batteries and three times as much gas.

I'm prescribed Tramadol for neuropathic pain - lots of pills all day every day. So, yeah, I know what it does. It is a prescription drug though so, naturally, I wouldn't give it to anyone else.

TBH, 16mg of codeine wouldn't do anything to me. When I feel a migraine coming on, like as soon as the visual disturbance begins, I need to lie down in a dark room and totally relax or, as you say, it's a whole day gone, sometimes I'm not much use the next day either.

Agree that tramadol won't be on everyone's kit list (I keep 8 handy for emergencies/injuries but avoid using them as it would be a pain in the arse to replace them) but I have to say that 8/500 co-codamol wouldn't take the edge off a gnat bite......

Ian, Awol, not everyone is a hardened druggie like us! Most people find a couple of 8/500 co-codamol plenty for pretty much any pain. I carry 8 tramadol and 8 30/500, and some 50mg dihydrocodeine, but try to avoid the stronger drugs if at all possible, so the 8mg works well to stop the migraines if I get it into me in time.
