Importing an RIF from the USA, have you done it??

Hi everyone,

Just a quick query. Has anyone imported an RIF from the US before? What precautions should I take? How long is it likely to be held for?

The gun in question I cannot find in the UK at all (340fps G36C electric blowback with mofset and 2 round burst option http://www.evike.com/products/51416/ )

Its easy mate, UKBA will seize it and write to you asking for your defence, send them the details and it will be released to Parcel Farce who will then charge you. If you want to speed things up get the tracking number from them and e mail [email protected] and inform then that the package is on its way and state your defence.

If you are enrolled on the UKARA database it may help to give your membership to Evike and ask them to write it on the package.

Should also be said that Evike charge an utterly extortionate amount of money for shipping - check that out first, because I can only think you're looking to the US for a cheaper price than you'd find here. If you want the best prices, go east - not west.

I was under the impression UKARA was the only thing they accepted going from other threads on other forums. Glad to hear this isn't the case and they're getting the law right themselves.

Cheers for your concern but money isn't the issue here. As I said in the initial posting this particular variant seems to be non existent bar in America. I've Googled more combinations of 'g36c', '2 round burst' and 'uk' than I could even count :L . There are a few other US sites stocking this rifle so I'll shop around for the best postage especially since I'll be raped by import taxes as well.

on Airsoft GI you can pre-pay the duty at checkout

trouble is that $225 gun will come near $275 with aprox $50 shipping + import duty

(could get close to $350 - at least $325 all inc I reckon)

You could probably get a tweaked up JG 608 with a program fet for that money tbh

but won't have trademarks or blowback - so kinda see where ya extra money goes on licensed Umarex stuff

I placed an order on Evike once but cancelled coz took too long to prepare/ship order I paid for

got my full refund but just found they couldn't get their act together quickly on my order 10months ago

To be fair $350 isn't too expensive at all. Bearing in mind a H&K g36c in the UK with blowback but without the 2 round burst can be anywhere from £200 to £280. Right now $350 works out at around £230. Also I've found most UK g36c ship with a 40rd mag whereas US is always 470 hicap. If I could get one of these from a shop in England I'd be happy to pay up to £250 maybe a bit more even to get my hands on one and save the hassle and worry of customs but US only for this one it seems.

Note - this IS the same gun (the listing on Evike plainly states that it's the Ares OEM version). The Umarex version will have trades as they hold the licence to put them on but this is the same gun nonetheless.

No idea how I missed these hahaha. Not sure about ZeroOne unless they're using a stock image rather than actual. you can see there is no burst fire markings on the selector.

New question now though. Patrol base webpage says downgrades are available. how do i go about this? i would need to take about 25FPS off.

I will also email ZeroOne to double check if it definitely is the burst fire mofset variant as theirs says 340fps.

I thought that and assumed they'd used the wrong picture. Patrol Base are good though.

As with most ARES AEG's they use the Quick-change spring system so really easy to change the spring yourself if needed.
