Airsoft items have a duty charge of either 3% or 4% - will find out first hand in 11 days time if I buy anything in Hong Kong (GHK G5 if I can get a good deal)The handling fee can be as low as £8 but I'm pretty sure I've had to pay £18-ish for a pistol.
You should only have to pay VAT of 20% - there is no Duty on toys. You only pay it on the value of the item, not the shipping.
Just found it - if imported from outside the UK it £135, though if the duty total is less than £9 they won't charge you. VAT is on anything over £15.^^That's for carrying stuff in when you return from abroad. It's different for stuff which is posted to you.
try Samoon for the GHK G5, they got a deal on magazines for it at the moment tooAirsoft items have a duty charge of either 3% or 4% - will find out first hand in 11 days time if I buy anything in Hong Kong (GHK G5 if I can get a good deal)
from what the website said you've got that the wrong way roundImport duty starts at £15, import VAT starts at £135. Duty will be applied to the value of the goods and then VAT will be applied to the total (including the duty) http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageTravel_ShowContent&id=HMCE_CL_000014&propertyType=document#P34_3134
