ICS MP5 A5 Will not fire

Hi,

So I have an ICS MP5 A5 and I picked it up for the first time in a year. Fully charged a brand new battery plugged it in and it would not fire but made a small noise in the handgrip where i think the motor was spinning. 

I did some research and found that it may be a locked gearbox so I pulled it apart and dragged the anti reverse latch and it made a pop noise so I thought I was successful in unlocking the gearbox but when I put it back together the same issue occurred. Tried the anti reverse latch but it was fine this time. 

I plugged the battery in with the motor connected outside the handgrip and it seems to spin fine. I'm not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions please?

Maybe reversed polarity somehow. The motor contacts are switched for example.

Are you sure the motor spindle is engaged with the gear in the gearbox? You may need to adjust the height of the motor.
