how do i get an actual picture on the posts as profile picture?

It comes under 'Edit Avatar Settings'. The personal photo is the one which shows when someone views your profile.

just to add if you want to upload a picture you might need to resize it down in paint to get it to upload as it wouldnt accept mine without making it tiny
