To put it simply, hpa guns work vastly differently to other gas guns, so peeps with problems would find it easier to find help if the few hpa wizards amongst us didn't have to find the threads in the gas section

And I'm pretty sure the community here has the sense to realise that whilst it is possible to act like a peat with a how gun (increasing fps, making BB hoses, etc.) Most people keep it within the bounds of reason, just a minority to deal with, though having said that, I've never met someone using hpa that wasn't a great sport, so it must be a small minority within a small minority

Back on topic. It might stop me posting in a hpa thread without realising it's not about my beloved GBB guns and embarrassing myself

Edit: being the awkward bastard that I am, here's a conundrum. Where would the owner of a converted GBB gun post his dilemma? It's not a GBB because it uses HPA and its not a straight up HPA because it has a moving bolt and nozzle. Do we have a separate thread for trans-gas guns in the interest of equality?

Please elaborate.

I feel it is fair that any gun which is powered by HPA is a HPA gun. Should a converted GBB have problems with HPA, its a HPA problem until the gun is proved to function the same with its intended power source, then its a Gas guns issue.

EDIT:

*Airsoft - a few times.

Well there are two main types of HPA gun, one based on an AEG (like a p*, wolverine etc) and one based on a GBB (basically tapping your HPA line into the gas mags gas reservoir, and using the HPA in the same way as green gas, it through the line)

I was being an arkward bastard and comparing the two types like two "genders" of HPA guns, not male and female, but manly (GBB version) and girly (AEG version)*

*No offence meant, I'm just a GBB guy :D

What about Tippmann then?

I'm no HPA guy, so school me. Don't they feature a gearbox-shaped control box in the same place as an AEG gearbox and use AEG parts?

No.

Tippman is close to a GBBR M4, but Daytona Gun is very different; there are no similar products to DG apart from Escort (which are basically old DG designs).

Well there's certainly no need for that. The issue is there's a lot of cross-over between HPA and GBBRs right now as tapping GBBR magazines is becoming incredibly popular in the UK and the rest of Europe. GBBRs are getting refined even more, and the Tippmann is a good example of a retailer directly approaching the issue of recoil in HPA whilst still keeping an eye on the price. I dare say HPA is going to become nothing but more popular amongst players as rigs become even more affordable and buying an HPA-ready gun is made more easy and cheaper.

That's why I think an HPA section is a good idea. Sure, we'll end up with people going 'but where does my blow-back CO2 pistol go?', though ultimately there's no way around that. Your point is just as valid as anyone else's, but 'solenoid' HPA engines like Polarstar, SMP and the like are incredibly popular these days. I mean the PDiKs is a good example of a conventional, non-blowback drop-in that doesn't use an FCU at all and is entirely pneumatic.

I'm not entirely sure why this hasn't just been done yet.

EDIT:

And yesterday.

Well, Devastator has been online three times in the last week afaik, and has not read any of my three (identical) PMs. I'd say if we want this - and a clean up of the board, we'll have to make some noise.

First question, to the mods, who runs the social media accounts? Does any of the moderation team have an email for Devastator, to get him to read his PMs?

Incidentally there were 25-30 HPA threads (including derails, but not list below, with 75% of posts on the subject) (found through searching the different manufacturer brands) when I posted this, there are now at least 30.

About as much as me getting my patches. Hmph.

We'll get it one day or maybe someday

/KeepTheFaith

Ah yes, by Christmas... just no idea which one.

Yes, it has only 25 votes in favour, although none against the idea, so maybe the admin does not think is worth it (like the proposal for a forum restructure).

Hmm, the facebook group is accessible again.

So what chance of getting a seperate HPA sub-forum by Summer?

About the same chances as Devastator checking the numerous emails, PMs, Facebook message requests or even logging in before the summer; I'm considering just printing them off and posting them to him. Inactive admin teams is how good forums tend to degrade over time and whilst the moderator team is good, they just don't have the tools to do everything.
