Hi everyone and thank you for allowing me into your forum. I have a few questions on my new fave sport.

What if anything can I upgrade on my ICS m4 , I still don't understand what's worth doing to it but I see loads of people upgrading hop units and tight bore barrels and all sorts of hi torque motors etc but what are the benefits and what's actually worth doing? Thanks in advance

Upgrading your weapon is generally personal preference, some upgrades can make minor differences. it depends what you want the gun to do most of the time. Hi Torque motors are really only if have a stronger spring as they need the power to pull it back. Generally they slow down your rate of fire on auto.

Most people will say upgrade your hop unit and rubber, why? The hop unit & rubber are responsible for the spin on the BB. A upgraded unit and rubber CAN give you better accuracy and distance. combine that with a better barrel and you should be getting most distance and accuracy. People debate over which company and version is the best and that the barrel only has a minor effect.

Spring for more power- but not much point doing this is your gun doesnt shoot straight so thats why people recommend hop units etc first.

the list can go on. but if your gun shoots at like 320-350 FPS then i would just do the Hop unit and rubber and maybe the barrel for now. as opening up the gearbox when you dont know what you wanna do can be a nightmear!

If you've only just started you're probably best skirmishing it a good few times and see what, if anything, you feel needs to be improved. Personally I always want a sling on a rifle/carbine, so I can drop it to use both hands for pyros, but it's still there on my chest. I also prefer a vertical foregrip rather than horizontal handguards, for wrist comfort when carrying it for a good while.

Re: internal upgrades...

If you are planning on teching your own gun/s as part and parcel of the hobby/sport, you will need to start somewhere. A lot of people suggest getting a non-working project gun to learn on, so you don't knacker your primary weapon. That does make a lot of sense, but I learned on my primary - I did eventually fuck it up, but I knew that was bound to happen and she still makes the odd appearance as and when I get round to fettling her up for a day out - £125 well spent. I'll say this about taking the gearbox of your only gun apart - you have all the incentive you need to make sure you persevere until you have it back together and working properly :lol:

I put a new spring on my ICS m4 and a tightbore barrel and bucking and got it serviced and the thing was amazing compared to how it was before. The difference was massive, fired way further way better. But its all up to how much you wana be competitive ect. If you like it how it is , keep it mate.
