Help me find a pistol!

Right folks,

I've been speaking to Jean who does the custom grips (and does them well), about getting a slide engraved with custom stuff, but I'm having a hard time finding a decent 1991 to start with.

He tells me I need something anodized for the best results.

So, AF-UK, can anyone with more knowledge on pistols direct me to a cheapish 1911 variant which is "blank" (no trades, at all) that is anodized or otherwise engrave-able.

Is the metal they use suitable for being engraved? I'd heard that you generally require special metal for laser engraving and such?

Silver pistol would be a bonus also!

I've been put under the impression that WE's slide-metal isn't good enough for engraving?

That's my main issue. If I'm wrong then, bonanza! I'm sorted!
