gaming pc build

Make sure the Corsair fan Is the SP version.
ok, looks like £1500 with all the peripherals. or £1150 without them. How good is the heating on this, it will have 3 fans, maybe 4 but probably 3. On top of that it will have the CPU fan, is this good, even with a small bit of overclocking?

That looks more then ample.
right, wanted to see more opinions on it and eventually came up with this. I used toms hardware forum, overall this is what I got

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/nbRZGX

Now A) I know an SLI bridge and 2xgtx 970s are overkill maxed but it just means in the future when I get a 4k monitor I already have the graphics. For the time being I may just go with 1. I will also probably swap the PSU to a corsair, and maybe the mouse and the keyboard to a k70 (k70 on pcpp is £260 for some reason)

That looks like a good build. But dude please I am begging you DO NOT BUY a head-set. Please watch this video

Also I doubt that even two 970's can run 4K at 60 FPS it is really really demanding on hardware.

(The Ant Lion Mod Mic V4 is a brillint.)

Most UI's are not scaled for 4K anyway so you just end up straining your eyes trying to read anything. 1440p seems to be a much better option for actual use. You can get whats known as Korean panels for less then 200. They typical use the screens that apple rejected for their displays and put them in a cheap housing with a single power connector and display port connector to bring the price right down. You get a very nice panel for a fraction of what it would cost from apple or the equivalent.

If I stop spending money on airsoft guns I might beef up my PC and get one. I would have 3 Displays to enjoy then :)

this is me and my life. I have gone from £1000 to £1750 including everything. I think that may be a bit drastic, we will see how everything spans out and how much I can buy and go from there...

If your playing at 1080p you definitely dont need to spend that much... If you want to keep with a really solid GPU (More important in game anyway) then going the AMD route would save you a nice amount of money and effect your frame rate by only a small amount.

Ik its overkill, what I will do is buy 1 gpu and when I want to go 4k then buy another

Your going to want a 4K monitor with G-sync to make up for the fact that the GPUs are not going to be able to keep the Frame Rate above 60FPS to prevent any tearing. When they finally come out you will be looking at 500+ for the monitor alone. You really will not be gaining that much from it... Just because the media has hyped it up as the next best thing, the reality of it at the minute is that it is really not worth it. In another 5 years mabye. By then you cards would be defunct anyway.

I'm just trying to help you make a decision that you are not going to later regret. Its a lot of money which could be spent on a hell of a lot of other things.

Yeah point taken. I thought the 4gb geforce 970 is a great card though? So take one card out, where else would you cut down on price though. Thanks mate, I want to get to as low as possible still using intel and no cutting corners

Cheers mate

It is a great card for the money, it wont be touched at the minute. It will be happily running games at 1080p and even 1440p for years to come. Game development in the visual department has slowed down dramatically, especially as the latest consoles are weak, meaning that developers have little reason to push there graphics in games.

You could save a bit by going for an earlier version of the CPU, Ivy bridge mabye. You dont actually lose all that much performance as the latest generation Intel chips have gone more towards energy efficiency then raw power. That would save you money on both the CPU and the Motherboard. I have something stupid like 40 Games of various sizes and a third of my 1TB drive left. That would save you a few quid. I would recommend WD over Seagate as well.

You dont need a £18 cooling paste, a £5 one would do the job if you really want to use one.

A 750Watt power supply will be ample. You are right in sticking with corsair, they are a good bet. Just avoid the builders series as it has a mixed reputation though. I have heard good things about the RM series which is what you have picked so far.

Just a personal opinion but that case is boring :P This guy has style ;) : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/nzxt-h440-matte-black-with-red-trim-mid-tower-case-with-side-window-and-4-quiet-fans-w-o-psu

A budget style option would be the Corsair 230T though :) .

2 GPU's are Overkill mate. for 1080p It will be great and they will be perfect for 2560x1440p and just grab a 1TB HDD 2TB is a little to much save some money. and take out the Thermal paste to. The TIM that comes on the Heatsink anyway is good enough if you not going to high overclocks. and dont get windows 8.1

yeah ^ mate, will do and only 1 gpu. this build is going to happen hopefully, but it may happen after christmas, depends. I will probably go with that case and keep normal fans, I can't really afford to just chuck the fans out and get the af120s for looks atm, I mean a 15 yr old building this setup is ridiculous. The bit that scares me is the fact that a year from now and I doubt it will be worth £500 lol....

Computers dont hold there value fall stop unfortunetly.

Wait a few months and see what the new Windows 10? is like. Windows should be due a decent version by know in there cycle of 1 good 1 bad. I might treat myself to an upgrade if its worth it when it does.

what are peoples thoughts on the xfx r9 295x2? IK it's overkill atm but it means when i move over to 4k I won't have to upgrade to 2way SLI or get a new gpu

A little less power consumption/space and money compared to xfire, on the other hand it runs hotter. Realistically i still think its overkill for what you are practically going to be doing with it for a fair while yet, 4k is not cheap.

and by the time it comes around the card may well be a bit dated

yeah thats a worry but also something of a plus, means the price will drop. Its £470 atm but i highly doubt next year it will be the crappiest card on the planet. What I mean is it will be alright for even then I reckon, considering it's two r9 290x's bodged together and is quite smooth.

Get the money for a pc first mate. Worry about what you want to get after you have the money to actually build it.
