Dunno why HK put the hideously uncomfortable end of the G3 sliding stocks instead of the nice one that were on MP5s/53s.

Yeah it is so bad, the reason I replaced the hard plastic butt pad with a piece of foam on mine.
I'm not certain and I'm sure it could be confirmed or disproven by looking at the service entry dates for the G3A4 and the relevant MP5 models, but I always assumed the A4 variant stock was simply the first rendition by HK and then they improved it by the time the MP5A3 started being produced with a better butt pad and the addition of multiple 'length of pull' lock points. And I guess then perfected with the MP5J (not sure if that's a real steel designation) but If I remember correctly it was a change to a more comfortable soft rubber pad requested my Japanese police?... or something along those lines lol)

Had to use the base of it for a solid stock, the other gun was way more rarer and needed the solid stock, dont worry currently awaiting another stock to come so i can take the base of itWhy no folding stock now?

I've made a final ergo modification to the A4 stock:
I realised that the cheek pad off my SVD sits quite squarely on the A4 rails when decoupled from the SVD mounting bracket.
So I ordered a second CYMA SVD pad, removed the coupler and made a small mounting plate from plywood and high density foam that sits at the bottom of the sliding stock with the lock rails dividing the two parts. Used two of the existing screw holes to then clamp the two pieces together.
Works well and forms a very comfy cheek weld for the LPVO. On the downside you do lose the ability to fully collapse the stock, but I'm not particularly bothered; it's set at position two where I like it.

Made another little mod to the G3:
I would say my hands are about average to slightly larger... wear medium of large gloves depending on the make.
But the G3 selector throw from Safe to Semi was seemingly designed for people with five inch fingers... or Germans!? ?
I can just about snatch at the selector while I have the rifle shouldered, but only just - it's easier to slip it off into your arms which for some reason gives your hand a bit more reach.
Anyway I drill and tapped the 'safe' detent, screwed in a 3mm grub screw, and then drilled a new detent slightly less than half way to the semi position.
luckily the G3 offers you a lot of leeway before the safety actually comes off.
Anyway, now anyone with normal sized hands can flip between safe and semi with about a 1 cm throw from the end of the selector without actually de-shouldering the rifle.
Quite happy with how that turned out.

Where are you folks getting your long flash hider from? Had a look around the usual suspects and could not see a smidgen of what I'm looking for, namely, the traditional long 'split' flash hider!

Got a pic of what you're after? G3s usually had an HK-style birdcage. If you mean a long 4-prong type that sounds like a G36 flash hider.

Thanks for that, yeah looking around and grabbing pics of what the other g3's have it could well be custom, it is the prongs I am looking for.
