G&G AK mag compatibility worry

I've been shopping around online for a good AK74 AEG that's not going to break the bank. I was set on saving for an LCT but to get me on the field quicker I'm probably settling for the G&G GK47.

Although I know G&G to be a good brand, I haven't found much reviews for the non block back AK, nor could I find any mid caps

Just wondering if I were to buy the G&G am I still getting a good AEG for my money or am I going to be stuck looking for mags?

As far as i'm aware, G&G AKs are generally compatible with 'TM' type AK mags.

I have the G&G GKM - works perfectly with all my G&P and CYMA mid caps.

The one you are after is a 74 so I cant speak specifically to the 5.45 style mags, though I would be pretty surprised if you had issues sourcing compatible options.

The G&G AK74 you linked is fine perfectly skirmishable however you are forced to use g&g propriety battery handguard system so if you want spare battery you have to buy their battery handguard like this one https://eagle6.co.uk/shop/catalog/product/view/id/5641/s/g-g-li-po-handguard-battery-for-gk74m-gks74-7-4v-1000mah/

This means you can not customise it with lower rails system if you wanted to add attachment such as lights, foregrips etc as for mag compatibility most major brands should work but they may need some fettling on the rear mag catch to fit properly.

Personally I would save for the LCT better overall more options for customisations and not reliant on proprietary parts. There is also E&l range of AKs particularly from gunfire which are very good in my opinion and are quite well priced: https://gunfire.com/en/products/els-74-mn-assault-rifle-replica-gen-2-1152202735.html

https://gunfire.com/en/products/el-74-mn-assault-rifle-replica-gen-2-1152202736.html

One caveat to note is that it comes from Poland at around 400fps so you will need to downgrade for the UK but that's fairly easy due to E&l QC gearbox spring

Yep, save up for either an E&L or LCT, buy cheap buy twice.  G&G are decent enough but their AKs arent anything to write home about.  There is a reason everyone buys E&L or LCT.....

Gunfire has some decent AKs in your price range

For a bit more you can get an LCT  AKM

Or AK74

Personally, I would pick up the E&L AK74 for that price.

Yeah, I'm going to trust theres a reason everybody buys LCT so looks like it'll be another game or two with rentals then but thank you very much!

from what i've seen 47 and 74 mags are pretty much interchangable in airsoft, i have 2 sets of cyma's in each pattern and they go in my e&l, my jg and me mate's cyma without issue.

Its the build quality or both them and E&L.  I like LCT because there is nothing fancy about them - straight V3 gearbox good to go out of the box.  If you want to 'upgrade' it at a later date tehn its a simple affair but usually the only thing I do to mine is stick a new hop rubber in it.

I have AK's by CYMA, SRC, G&G, APS and LCT only mags that don't really fit into each other the APS ones hard to click into the other brands, but the others fit into the APS mag well fine !!
