What is the scope type (that is usually magnified) that goes behind a standard red dot to get some zoom?

You can then move it to the right and just use the normal aimpoint

Also - is it any good - ie - useful or more 'looks cool' than practical?

it would work with that i guess but to be super cool what you want is an eotech holagraphic sight.

the one thing i would say with magnifiers is when using it never scan for enemy's through the scope with a as you will get 'trapped in the scope' which means your visual will be come reduced and you will miss things you are looking for
