First Rebuild and Forgot to Buy Some Lub

I've got to fit a new piston and gears to my Krytac Trident MKII PDW and have some nice Prome parts, as I couldn't get hold of any Krytac parts.

But I didn't think about getting any grease, as I'm a bit forgetful like that.

I have however come across some of my TECHT gun sav and some Milsig SOS oil, which I use to use on my paintball markers.

So my first question is can I use either of these in my Krytac?

An if not can I get some ideas for suitable options to use, as I need to order some ASAP so I can get building and have my PDW up and running again ?

gun sav seems to be quite well regarded for air seal components (cylinder, nozzle etc) maybe a bit slippy for gears.

you really want a heavier grease for gears to stop it flying off, so oil might not be the greatest.

Could I use WD-40 specialist white lithium grease 400ml on the gears? Then the TechT gun sav on the cyclinder o-rings? 

I'm assuming I would use the same rule as when I cleaned my paintball gear and you just want enough to give a friction free movement on the parts

I've used the WD-40 lithium spray and it's fine for gears, just be a bit restrained on how much you spray in!

Would their silicon spray be better or is is just a case you have to make sure you dont put loads on so its not flicking all over the show like when you put GT85 on your bike chain ?

i generally put a few wee dabs on the gears then turn over by hand to distribute, if you haven't got anything fancy going on inside (ie a titan with its optical sensors) then you should be grand.

i have seen some folks drown the box in grease to try and quieten it down but not a fan of that strategy myself.

i wouldn't use oil though, too light.

For gears, I've used white lithium grease, bearing grease or chainsaw oil (it's thick and anti-fling and I also use it on motorbike chains).  Just a little, and wipe most of it off.  To be honest, I just grab whatever's nearest to hand and fairly slippery.

Plastic or rubber parts only get silicone oil though.

Although I do have some red rubber grease for caliper seals... hmm.

NOT silicone spray. The Lithium spray dries on as a white grease.

Cheers folks that info is much appreciated and I'm of to get some Lithium grease now. 

I will also go as easy as I can with it, as you are all saying the same thing in that less is more ?

It's all about the stiction. Too much grease can make it worse!

An we don't want that, it's bad enough I've damaged gers and piston teeth we don't want to ruin anything else that's for sure

Why?  Did a pot of white lithium grease kill your father?

It's not my first choice, I'd go with the generic lithium / lithium-moly bearing grease rather than white, but mostly because I prefer the smell.  Airsoft logic.

Silicone is ok.

For metal to metal?  Can't see why you'd use it over something actually intended for that purpose.

I've seen that recommended by a tech channel.  But at that price I'd want it to shim the gun for me, and fetch a beer from the fridge while it's at it.

i presume he means actual silicone grease as opposed to the light spray oil we normally associate with the word.

I've seen a few people on tech videos recomend the super lube. I definitely need to get something though, as I'm not sure if I put enough or if I put too little on the gears. 

When I buy though I think it will be a grease, as I find it easier to judge how much I've applied.

An whilst my little PDW breaths once more and is ready to sling plastic once more, it won't be the last time it has to be cracked open I'm sure ?

Well yeah, I mean...you'll have to change that motor soon.

If I can get a pinion gear puller I can put a new one on my 30k Krytac motor, which is ok and just needs a new pinion gear.
