Seem a bit overkill in my opinion, if you need one playing airsoft to stop yourself knocking yourself out you probably should be wearing it everyday :P
Nah, when you're in the heat of the moment, especially indoors, sometimes charging round like a loon, you can just end up not noticing your surroundings and can really hurt yourself by running into something, there's a video around somewhere on YouTube of an airsoft game where the player is running through an outbuilding, runs right into a beam and is out nearly out cold for a good few seconds, quite an eye opening video, I wouldn't be without mine

Aye, but while the replicas are not safety rated, in most cases they will prevent blood loss (skin breaks, bb impacts and scarring) even if not concussion!
A hat will absorb the impact of a bb. Boonies are quite good at this as the fabric is heavy enough and loose enough to absorb the impact. My slouch hat is even better, but I'm not about to recommend everyone wears one of those :)

Helmets may help if you run into low hanging branches or structures, they are not needed for protection from bb's.

The first thing I went and bought when I got into Airsoft was a £70 fast helmet. I think i've worn it 4 times over the last 18 months however! I'm yet to try CQB and I'm going to run with it, also I have the gopro NVG mount which is really good on a helmet.

What's the largest FAST helmet out there?

I got the 8fields version, and even without all padding it barely fits (yes, i have a giant head...)

I have the L/XL version of the FMA one. It's snug with the pads in but it fits me OK. Just how big is your head?

The 8fields is rated L/XL which according to the box is upto 62cm. Which should be fine, but i have a feeling thats the radius of the inner helmet, not the mounting/plastic structure inside.

I think they look cool and are a good and easy way for those who like to record airsoft to do so.

its hard to wear a helmet without looking like a part of the female anatomy usually associated with a feeding newborns. and it would seem appearance matters in this sport. god knows why when i personally prefer NOT to be seen.

maybe they are the latest thing to be seen it, when your not-not being seen?

Can't say I've ever seen breasts which looked like that.

Phallic perhaps; But not mammary.

sure i wasnt talking literally matey, to translate wearing a helmet makes you look a tit. (usually not the left one either). an unfortunate side effect of protecting the noggin of the extremely clumsy/hard of thinking.

No it was writing figuratively. I always thought that for thousands of years soldiers have been wearing helmets for protection and as part of their uniform. Now if we want to talk about tit like headwear that would be people in cars wearing babseball hats, the sign of a low IQ driver ;)

ah ppe, well thats a different story, along with five s's and kaisan. all about putting ticks in boxes. and yet still falls into the catagory of "hard of thinking"
Quit trolling; it's absurd to suggest people are stupid if something falls on them in a hard hat zone, and the hat protects them from their stupidity.

Why would wearing a helmet make you look like a tit? Obviously there's exceptions...

But there's exceptions the other way too:

not trolling matey, and i've worked in a big factory and what goes on the accident form is 95% of the time not what actually happened. its a sad fact that most accidents happen coz people arn't doing what they should, or cutting corners, or simply not thinking things through.
