Dealers claiming items in stock when then don’t actually have them.

sixmm are c**ts for this

ordered 4 parts from them, 3 are ready to ship and the other is still being picked. been that way for 3 weeks now

Very standard practice in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Often the wholesaler can get the order to the retailer within the same week. In some cases, the retailer is literally down the road.

I had this a couple of weeks ago. I placed an order on the Monday and it took till Friday for them to ring to say that it is out of stock

Annoying and deceptive.  I'd just start the process of getting a refund immediately.

If it's generic gear and trinkets, you can often find it on AliExpress where they are at least a bit more honest about availability, delivery and costs.

This was Defcon airsoft. Offered either waiting for a couple of weeks, ( heard that before) or a refund. Choose the refund option. I could wait I suppose, but it’s the principal of misleading the public that annoys me.

I hear you. Similarly frustrating is where they are transparent about items needing to be back-ordered but they're overly optimistic about the lead times.

There's no problem with this as long as the business is up front with things...which admittedly isn't the case for many.

I understand why it happens, it saves outlay on businesses buying stock only for it to sit in their facilities which get ever more expensive to run, losing money in the process. Many players would be happy saving some cash to wait a little longer....but transparency is key.
