Conversation overheard today at Holmbush Airsoft; Crawley

Have a bag with x amount of plain & coloured balls at the exit of the safe zone/start of the game zone; everyone blindly picks a ball out of the bag as they pass by & whoever gets the coloured ones gets chronoed.

It's the chrono lotto! ;)

And now you need to pay someone to do something else unnecessary.

It's not a bad idea though. It's chairsoft themed at least. Problem would be getting the right amount of BBs in there each time though, so I don't think it'd work for that reason.

My son has played there a few times and on each occasion be it arriving early or late has not seen any marshals at the chrono site. This is a good site but i've seen some of the whelps that he has come home with from OTHER sites and would put it down to hot guns. Surely all sites should make sure that guns are chrono'd by staff not individuals being that this site only seem to use two colours of tie wraps it would be easy to get around, why don't they set up a penned walk way so as you pay you get chrono'd. Holmbush has many players which are free to stay in the safe zone and get chrono'd at leisure. I have also thought that a few extra FPS wouldn't matter but when it came to playing i had cut the springs down to the FPS limits or lower as Safety is paramount

As always it is always a minority that won't play by the rules

I can't ever remember them not having mandatory chronoing at Holmbush in at least a year of playing, I play there pretty much every game day and there HAS ALWAYS been a marshall chronoing since making it compulsory!

In the past have had some pretty sore ouchies from being hit, I think it is more the location on your body you get hit than hot guns tbh that makes them look worse.... the face bleeds very nicely on even CQB fps limits!

Yh ive heard this a few times especially at smaller places ive noticed where you can hear the odd guy having this sketchy talk about which bbs he should use and other times ive seen marshalls who chrono guns turn hops down on hot guns to make them usable and then they get changed by the player right after.

Had SWIM chrono a TM Mp7 GBB before a game day as had just bought it. Everyone half wowe'd at the sound / Splat . Openly told me it chrone'd at 340 FPS when i asked. 2 Hours later, started playing the game with said gun bearing in mind the site limit is 290 due to be CQB beyond belief. 2 weeks later, i still have the welts from the enguagements with him.

But hey hoe, one rule for one, one rule for another. queeried site marshalls about it, and told oh no " its below 290", as the guy works there. Ok mate....seems very fair when i couldnt play their with a gun chrono'ing at 314 fps average.

edit: Not at same site, but still, hot gun dodging at multiple sites.

This may of been said before but I have not looked through all the posts: You need to watch out for jule creep with HPA guns as this can take them off the FPS limit. I am a HPA user and it is always best not to be on the limit as joule creep can then take you over the limit. Always 'tourny lock' the regulator on HPA users too using cable ties!

Sorry if this is a bit off-topic but I find some people don't appreciate how HPA works (the regulator sets the FPS limit and can be easily adjusted during a game unless locked down).

Ah, Jules, that guy. Here's an airsoft social paradox for you (since I can't see how this is relevant discussion :D ), person has HPA gun, gun fires at the same effective (avg +/-2%) FPS with 0.2g, 0.25g and 0.30g, the site chrono's the gun with .30g and declares it 'hot', but the owner insists he only users 0.2g, wherein the gun would not be over the site limit (if it was an AEG). IS that gun 'hot' or not? The current school of thought in certain other countries is to chrono HPA at above .30g.

That goddamn Jules is always creeping up on me at games.

And yes, I did misspell 'joule' (now corrected)!

Chrono should always be done with the ammo being used. If someone wants to cheap out and see themselves off for accuracy by using .20 let them. No one should then put heavier ammo in their gun and call it hot!

Yeh, I think that's the problem i366 is going after though: What's to stop someone saying 'hey, I'm using .2s for the day' then switching up and letting the Joule creep kick in. Perhaps that's why they like the idea of cronoing HPA and stuff on nothing less than a .3g or whatever.

Has the possibility of a universal BB to colour index ever been discussed (I'm new). If it existred it would make it harder for people to claim different ammo weight? Just my initial thought.

Yeh but people like specific colours; I'll only shoot white because I'm racist can see them better against a dark background. Having colours might given inherent advantage or disadvantage to one or another. Plus there's the fact that I imagine the dye costs something so we'd see a small increase on price.

It's a tricky one.
