Big Thread of Import Duties and Taxes

I thought it may be a good idea to build up a list of what people have ordered, where from, what the value was, what value was written on the package, and any import duties and taxes they were charged.

This would help people get a rough estimate of how much it'll cost them to buy from abroad.

I've only ordered one thing from abroad, which was a chrono. Think it'd make sense to stick to the same format:

If you've got MS Excel or OpenOffice's equivalent (which you can get for free at the openoffice website) then you can use this calculator spreadsheet I made up a little while back:

All you do is input the value of what you're importing and it tells you what you'll be charged by customs. Up to around 3-4 hundred pounds value it'll be accurate to within 2 quid or so.

It does seem quite a bit of money but I think compared to the UK I have saved quite a bit in the long run.....

Was it all packaged in one big box with the total price on the box or done in separate little boxes. I have one little box on its way but it's $160 about £120 so I hope it slips through

It came from Airsoft-club.com

The items came in two boxes, I cannot remember if it had the price on the side, I do remember it had 'Accessories' scribbled on the label tho!

It also was shipping via Hong Kong Post

Wow, you're lucky

I ordered from there and mine got held up at the delivery company who sent me a letter saying you owe ££.££ :angry:

Once payment was made i got my airsoft accessories the next day. It still worked out cheaper getting a bulk order and paying delivery and import duties and taxes then what it would have costed if i bought it from UK!

I seriously doubt anyone from uk customs has the time to watch threads in whats a minor area of overall imports/exports.

Besides, its not like its a several thousand pound car or anything, the tax would be about £30/£40 maximum meaning it would cost more for them to do the backwards paperwork and proof than it would for them to let it go.
