Best Airsoft Sight?

I've just purchased an M4, and I've always been attracted to buy a sight for aesthetics... but what good do they actually do on the field? I always wanted an EoTech but from what I've heard a lot of them have terrible image quality and ghosting, so I'm driven to believe a simple red dot would be better - maybe a Micro T1?

As this will be on an M4 I don't think it would need to be magnified. What are your experiences with various different styles of sight, and which suits your play style best?

i have a x4 sight on my M4 (got it off eBay, cost some £50 iirc, have a look in gear and load outs for my thread) has a 3 colour illuminated recticle etc.

you could always look at a 551 sight (waiting for one to arrive for my MP5K).

edit :- unfortunately there is no "best" as some will be more usable in one situation over another etc. what do you intend to do CQC or??

Zoom sights can be nice for woodland just to get a closer look of that bush in the distance that you suspect might be hiding someone behind it.

It also helps you adjust shots at longer range, and in my experience there's less cheat calling when more people have zoom scopes. As BBs travel further away they obviously reach a point when they're too small to see, especially against certain backgrounds. A lot of times people will be at that exact range and they'll lose sight of their BBs right as they're heading to hit someone, so the person will assume they're hitting them and then have a tantrum.

With a scope, you can see the BBs for that added 10m or so and realise that they're dropping 15 feet short of the target.

It's not a massive issue and it's one people can get around, but I like having around 4x zoom just to get a better view of things. ACOGs are great for woodland play imo, plus you can get them with red dots mounted on top, then you get the best of both worlds. And they look awesome, which is pretty much the point of airsoft - looking awesome.

If you're predominantly a CQB player, you can't beat red dots and EOTechs, I've never even given ghosting a thought, I'm not even that sure I know what you mean... But if it's not something I've noticed whilst playing, or heard mentioned before, then it's evidently not a big deal.

I bought cheap eotech sight with red dot laser attachment....I dont suffer from "ghosting" but terrible reflections off the poorly made glass fitted to the sights....it affects vision so much I prefer to just use the iron sights until I can get the g and g 1 to 4x sights...but I need 170 quid for that little beauty!!

I just bought a G&P 551 with EOLAD Laser - £114 from Z1

- TBH I think it's £40-50 overpriced, but it does look the absolute dogs' bollocks!

Still, I haven't skirmished it yet, so it might be sh!t... One thing about it that is a pain already is that the lead for the pressure pad is too short, but it is moulded into a micro TRS jack, so I'll have to cut the wire and add an extension in the middle, or buy new parts and start from scratch. Still, the pad itself is very good.

Have a look at this though... saw it t'other day. No good for my G36 - too long, but on an M4 it could be excellent.

Yeah i felt the same. Even the cheaper ones are £80. While they are nice, they do seem like there is little value for money when comparing it to a £40 Chinese clone. Yes they may be lesser in quality however do 80% of the function for 35% of the price.

i personally prefer holographic sights. The ones made my Eotech are damn expensive but are like the best.

I used to have an ELCAN on my M4, great sight but a little on the heavy side. It was 4x so was good for woodland and spotting but the eye relief started to get on my nearves (you had to be right on top of the sight).

Recently changed to an aimpoint T1 Micro and love it, even in woodland. I only really used the ELCAN for spotting so I really dont miss it at all and the T1 is a great little sight IMHO.

I have a G8G GP121 Aimpoint-styled red dot on my MP5, it makes it look a LOT different to all the EOTech'ed MP5s. The eye relief isn't bad either, and it has 5 different brightnesses as well as lens caps.

I was actually looking at the ELCAN 4x scopes and I liked the look of them. I was also looking at the 4x Trijicon style ACOGs. I do like having the 4x zoom as I've got a 4x rifle scope on my M14 which really helps with spotting as you say, but I might just go for a T1 on a high mount instead!

Good idea! Have you seen this done with a T1? I thought the 3x magnifiers were only truly compatible with the EoTechs
