A while ago I picked up some stuff from a "retiring" player and as it turns out, most of it was pretty much fubar.
Included in this was an Ares 021 M4.
I finally get around to sitting at my bench and having a good look at the stuff and testing it. Now I know I should have tested it beforehand but hey. That's me.
So the ak47 behemoth turned out to be devoid of wires and selector stuff and the m4 didn't disappoint with a knackered micro switch inside the gearbox.
Not sure that ares expected it to last considering it's rated at 15A (230v but AC, not DC) So that will be getting replaced with a new one that's attached to a mosfet with bigger balls.
Inside the v2 wasnt too hideous but a 270mm barrel with a full cylinder may have been a tad over volumed so I think something longer and shiney-er will be on the shopping list.
The missing bits and loose bits are being replaced and tightened up.
Which brings me to my question....
I don't own a DMR. I've fancied one and never gotten around to actually making one.
So am I correct in my assumption that a heavier piston would be better?
As I have it in bits to do shimming and what have you, I can change parts as I go along. The original is plastic so would die quickly I feel.
What are your thoughts oh give mind?
