OK so you're thinking this is totally against the whole point of airsofting.
Well, it is, but listen to what I've got to say (more like: read what I have wrote) and you might understand my thinking,
So first off, the level of customisation and weapon choice could be potentially greater than any other military first person shooter (if a good developer ever took the time to produce an airsoft simulator, which is highly unlikely) because there are many replicas that are actually quite different to the real steel (although still look similar) or are based on very rare guns.
You could customise your loadout with any tactical vest, chest rig, belt platform, MOLLE harness etc.
Different eye protection etc.
This is where the realism can come in. For example, you could get your eye shot with sh*tty cheap mesh goggles, the risk would be less with Perspex goggles but they steam up, requiring anti-fog purchases.
Cheaper guns like EBBs could jam/break easily, gas guns could be less reliable in colder weather.
Money could be earned automatically every month as pay-days, but extra cash and unique items could be won at tournaments and special events (such as the NAE) Of course it would cost to enter these though. I think it would be a very interesting and different experience, of course, I doubt a simulator like this could easily run on even a new gaming computer but sometime in the future maybe?
It would just be awesome to show off virtual loadouts and create custom maps too. So somebody could make their local airsoft site(s) and share them with the world. These sites could then be run by the player and they would receive further income from them, arrange opening days, advertise virtually on the Safe Zone (main menu? The hub where the community comes for news and stuff)
And remember players can buy all their pouches and gas/CO2 etc. You could buy different weight BBs and gas.
Virtual community areas:
The Safe Zone)
For news/notifications of real world and in-game airsoft events and purchase advertising space to display your airsoft site.
The Range)
Shooting range to chrono weapons/zero your sights. Share your custom weapon with others.
Patrol Base)
The shop to buy RIFs, consumables and gear from. A real life airsoft shop could advertise on it and the name of the shop changes (basically like their virtual shop but doesn't actually contain any real products/the shoo doesn't earn money from it but instead pay the publisher/developer because it is advertising the shop)
How this game could actually work:
Well as you've read this I hope you like the sound of it (maybe to start off it wouldn't be a shooter but you would have your virtual character and community/customisation features) but as aforementioned with the shop sponsor thingy the developer could regain some money from their initial production costs by charging companies to be able to advertise in the game.
It would cost money for rights to call the guns the real name though (as the airsoft manafacturers pay the real steel company to put the name on their replicas) for example SRCs G36s are called SR36s. Then the video game has to pay to call it an SR36 or they have to think of yet another name for it...so for example
Real steel = MP5K
RIF = M5K
Game = MK5
But hopefully they'd earn lots from other product advertising.
Anyway I just thought of this so obviously remember I can improve/refine this idea but I would really appreciate your opinion on this/things I could add.
Also sorry if there are any spelling mistakes or something in this because I'm on an iPad and you know what autocorrect can be like...(usually fucks it up)
