Hi Guys

Im an airsofter who needs a bit of help hopefully your willing.

I'm a DIT 4th final year product design student from Dublin Ireland, I'm also an avid airsofter.

So naturally I'm doing my Thesis on airsoft and more specifically "Airsoft Face Protection"

I'm starting this thread to get consumer feedback on airsoft face protection. I need as much information from as many different types places as possible, I know the American energy output limit is a lot higher then in Ireland (we are limited to one joule, poor us) so there should be some interesting constrasts between Irish and American players. Any insights comments, opinion, pictures of bad hits, thoughts could be useful so don't be shy in posting.

I'm specifically looking at face protection issues and problems that could be fixed which will hopefully help us all.

I created a survey below to get feedback from real airsofters so please fill it out you will be helping.

Thanks for the help much appreciated

My reply has been added! :D

Wow made me think though. But I just hate full face. The only time I do use it is when I'm trolling around with my S10 gas mask... my nickname is a horrid "Gas" now. :( Gives everyone the wrong impression!!

I've also completed your survey.

Only time I wear full face is when I have to (site rules), which isn't very often.

It really restricts my view and makes sniping almost impossible (gets in the way).

Find it extremely uncomfortable, too hot, and most importantly, I can't have a quick mid-battle snack!

filled out your survey. I have two different setups for my face protection so I have included extra notes :) Hope all goes well.

Results of survey:

80% Of airsofters take a chance with tooth loss for comfort/ability to munch in the field! :P hahaha!

YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY! I happen to like my teeth so I am glad I'm not you. Maybe I should show my most recent setup for my face protection when I get the final part. Comfortable, able to see and protects my whole face :) (I will post it in the loadout thread)

My preference is definately to protect eyes and teeth...therefore full face coverage wins it for me.

Answered the question. Only wear goggles to protect my eyes and only wear lower to protect my teeth. I dont mind the lil pain that a bb to the face causes. IMO you have to be real stupid not to protect your teeth, and it sucks when you have a good kill but you doubt a sec because you dont want to mash his face up, but there we go.

Another thing I thought of today. wearing separate lower face will allow you to remove the lower face in between games, which can be quite nice.

I just use wide view goggles and a piece of olive cloth to cover up to the nose, gives optimal face protection without getting in the way for sniping, easy to whip off for a bite to eat etc.
