1. How did you get into Airsoft?

One of my squadmates in the Arma2 group I used to be part of posted some pics of his G36C. That lead me to checking scoutthedoggie's youtube channel, which got me hooked.

I'll blame Escape From Tarkov for me getting back into it, though. I always wanted to go to The Mall way back when (never managed to), and the Interchange map is probably the closest thing I'll find now.

2. What would your callsign be?

Never really bothered with them past my username.

3. What would your primary and secondary gun be (optional third)?

Currently my Specna 416 and no secondary, since I only have a drop leg holster and it's...well, crap.

Dream loadouts would be a G28 and HK45CT, or a Zenitco AK-105/SR-3MP and a G17 or Five-seveN (since nobody seems to make an SR1MP).

4. What Battle dress Uniform (BDU) and gear would you use?

My team uses A-TACS FG and are swapping to A-TACS iX, so whatever I can find in those patterns.

5. If you could use rubber melee weapons, what would it be? 

Something like an Extrema Ratio Fulcrum, which AFAIK you can only get in steel.

Realistically it'd just be for sitting in its sheath and looking cool, though. Can't think of a single time I've needed one.

6. What’s your favourite and least favourite game mode? 

Favourite: anything milsim/scenario based.

Least favourite: anything that forces you into one specific tactic, or is overly gamey. I like a bit of strategy to it.

7. What’s your best, funniest and worst memory of Airsoft?

Best: Probably my first game. Managed to sneak up completely undetected on a group of regulars. I managed to miss every shot, too.

Funniest: Toss up between two - the time I charged a bunker with my M9, shooting one handed, only for the sole defender to just turn around and leg it rather than returning fire, or calling myself out last game after I'd run out of BBs, only to find out afterwards that both remaining members of the opposing team had also run out of BBs...

Worst: turning up to nearest site (2 hours away each way) only to find out that my AKM was shooting absolutely stupidly hot. Spent the first half the day with a rental G36C, then the second half with my AKM that was now shooting 280ish with .20s...don't think I landed a shot on target all day.

8. What is your favourite patches (maximum 4)?

Only running team patches at the moment, but other than those I have a Jaster's Feather patch waiting for my new rig, and I'll probably get a couple of USEC or Flying Hellfish patches.

9. If there was a gun you wanted or not yet built, what would it be? 

There's loads of them I'd want that aren't being a made - a decent mid-length SA58, a more affordable G28, a Desert Tech MDR of any type, pretty much any Russian pistols...

Otherwise there's an M14 EBR DMR build and a Zenitco AK-105 on my list.

10. What do you see as a step forward, for the game, in the future? 

Considering how much better airsoft guns are now compared to when I first started, I'd say things are pretty good as they are. I'm still hoping for TMRS style recoil tech to become a bit more affordable, and it'd be nice if there were more good non-M4 based options available.

some of the Desert fox airsoft events.

4. Which site do you enjoy playing at the most? Of the ones I have attended I don’t know. It’s kinda horses for courses. Combat Action Games tickles the woodland side and Battlestations Activities hits the cqb button. But I’m not the most well travelled player as I don’t drive. 
 

5. If you could run an event, what would you base it on. 
I used to write site events for a paintball site and one that stood out was a Indiana Jones themed event. 
both teams spent the day fighting to locate and recover golden idols from around the site. Towards the end of the day they had to attack the temple that was defended by a handful of guardians (marshal team). It caused chaos as they couldn’t decide whether to fight each other or team up against the marshals. 
 

it worked, it was fun and people who played it remembered it. Even down to the accuracy competition at the start to decide who was Team Indie and Team Lara

1. How did you get into Airsoft?

Brother plays, got invited and the bug.

2.what would your callsign be?

Call signs are organic things (imo), therefore it would be an injoke - so something like shorty or related to past fuck up.

3. What would your primary and secondary gun be (optional third)?primary - current is CAA M4. My budget laser. Next purchase is going to be an Ares GSG G14 or ICS G33. No secondary yet but lookin at a 1911

4. What Battle dress Uniform (BDU) and gear would you use? current is DMP woodland. I know. I'll use it till it breaks

5. If you could use rubber melee weapons, what would it be? Shovel.....

6. What’s your favourite and least favourite game mode? Favourite: Multi objective attack/defence. least:not found it yet

7. What’s your best, funniest and worst memory of Airsoft?

Best - grabbing a bomb early game and getting it to required location before the other teams dead are at the resporn point, high fives all round for the random group that moved up with me.

Funniest - having a marshal hit check me just as I light a bang grenade to prep a room breach or being told how many friendly kills it took to clear the fort from two directions (I'm not saying the other part of the team were being thick but if we are attacking the fort why are you shooting people coming through the front door...). There are normally a couple like this on game days. That's why I go.

Worst: not had a day where I thought that was a shit day. had a couple of bad days where we could beat the other team or kept loosing quickly - these are the learning days 

8. What is your favourite patches (maximum 4)? I am in two minds about this - I would be a patch fiend if the funds were there; I once went through a couple of websites and put in all the patches I liked with plan of getting some now then next time round going to the next saved wishlist- turns out that is the whole of the fund required for a number mags for a pistol and holster.... So it is patches or next gun/part of load out ?

9. If there was a gun you wanted or not yet built, what would it be? I want a lot of guns...I do want a Barry Burton, an AK variant, the afore mentioned G33 and G14. 

10. What do you see as a step forward, for the game, in the future? No idea, still getting to grips with the hobby. I mean this would be really expensive for the sites but greater Comms for game day teams.

back then i ran mesh goggles because i couldn't stand fogging up. needless to say it was a lesson i'm glad i learned before losing an eye.

Not to thread hijack because I'm finding all of these really interesting! 

What is this about? Are mesh goggles inherently unsafe? I run some now and again but probably won't if they're dangerous ?

1. How did you get into Airsoft?

I've worked at a paintball and airsoft field for almost 2 years, I was hired to do the paintball but joined the airsoft every now and then, absolutley loved it.

2 .what would your callsign be?

either "Mr. Fabulous" or "Maximus" (after the horse from Disney's Tangled)

3. What would your primary and secondary gun be (optional third)?

I'm currently saving up for my first gun which'll be an M4, nice and generic, after that I might go looking into customizing a gun into a DMR

4. What Battle dress Uniform (BDU) and gear would you use?

currently I've used some olive drab coloured stuff from different countries, just stuff I scrounched up, looking into getting an Alpenflage jacket (already got the trousers) and maybe start saving up for the Finnish M05 camo system

5. If you could use rubber melee weapons, what would it be? 

Spade!

6. What’s your favourite and least favourite game mode?

I don't really have a favourite, but if I had to choose between attacking or defending I'd probably go for attacking.

7. What’s your best, funniest and worst memory of Airsoft?

best:

playing with some friends who have their own airsoft team and claimed they're really good at CQB and generally were just bragging (also making fun of me as I was a greenhorn with a rental, all in good fun tho although they were a little bit smug about it), we had a mission to collect an order sheet at a CQB bit (town) on this field, in the town there was a scrap car in the middle of a square witht he order sheet plain in sight, we collected it and I took up position in one of the buildings just in case, the 4 "expert" chose to stand in the middle of the square, pondering over the order sheet and ignoring me when I said we should maybe take cover ("hang on, lemme read this first") it will come as no surprise that those 4 were, in quick succession, hit by enemies. I managed to sneak away before they knew I was there, run around, shoot them in the back and take the order sheet to the respawn point they were most likely going to (this field has 3 respawn points per team). when I found them they smirked at me and asked me if I got shot too, and that we should hurry up and go try again, I just dead calm produced the order sheet from my pocket and handed it to them ("got ya fam!") (I have more stories with them, taking out enemies from behind after they didn;t want to follow me around the building because they knew what they were doing, I ended the day with more kills than the 4 of them combined, it was great to wipe those smug smiles off their faces)

same day, I managed to get lost from the squad of smugness and was defending a small point with some other players, eventually I was left by myself for about 5 min because the rest had been taken out, when reinforcements slowly started backing me up I gave them directions as to where they should take positions, which direction, what to expect etc. etc. untill I had about 8 guys with me. When we managed to hold the objective and the timer had run out, all of them came to me (rental players, experienced players and everywhere in between) and just looked at me, asking me what the plan was, I had my own squad, who followed my directions and played really well, for the remainder of the game, that felt Alpha AF (also the moment I definately fell in love wiht Airsoft, can't wait to have my own squad again)

funniest:

there were 4 of us in this foxhole thingy, one of us with an LMG, this player form the other team jumped in from behind us, probably expecting us to be on his team, we just all turned around, pointed or guns at him and, almost in unison, shouted "NO!", didn;t even have to fire, he just raised his hand ("yeah, fair enough") and walked away.

worst:

people playing unfair, period.

8. What is your favourite patches (maximum 4)?

I've got a battle-damaged pikachu patch which I always have on me when I play, and a fair seelction of other patches, no favourites tho. I do want to aqcuire some patches witht exts like "you're not an operator, you're an airsofter" or "long-ass text with the word 'operater' in it to make me seem more bad-ass than I actually am". just anything to take the piss out of people who take airsoft to seriously (you're not an "operater" or whatever, you're an grown-up child with a bb-gun!)

9. If there was a gun you wanted or not yet built, what would it be? 

I have no gun yet, so I'll take any. but I'd love to have an airsoft G28 (my go-to weapon in Ghost Recon Wildlands), just a shame it's so expensive

10. What do you see as a step forward, for the game, in the future? 

longer, accurate, range for guns. I have no trouble with being hit (yet), I've done paintball and that hurts way more, as far as I'm concerned the FPS could go up a bit, granted it is safe enough to do so (as long as goggles don't shatter and skin issn't actually pierced, I'm good)

1. How did you get into Airsoft?

Owned springers from about 94, always wanted to play armies with them but it never happened. Knew a few people from an older peer group into it. Got more impressive gas and electric guns over time and got to know them. Went to my first self organised skirmish around 99, and it spiraled from there.

woodland 416c, mk23, hk45. cqb mk23, hk45, uspc.

4. What Battle dress Uniform (BDU) and gear would you use?

mtt in woodland ,cqb I wear all sorts often my leopard print ubacs and jeans or dungarees.

5. If you could use rubber melee weapons, what would it be? 

I just shoot people.

6. What’s your favourite and least favourite game mode? 

there isnt one, just sites I don't like.

7. What’s your best, funniest and worst memory of Airsoft?

Theres many but I suffer from a bad memory and the best are not repeatable.

8. What is your favourite patches (maximum 4)?

I don't have favorites but someone sent me an embroidered boba fet helmet which is one I quite like.

9. If there was a gun you wanted or not yet built, what would it be? 

aug tm recoil, with full function. eg not just recoil like g36 and aksu models.

10. What do you see as a step forward, for the game, in the future? 

It's fine as it is.

Not to thread hijack because I'm finding all of these really interesting! 

What is this about? Are mesh goggles inherently unsafe? I run some now and again but probably won't if they're dangerous ?

the problem was the site had a somewhat loose idea as to how fps limits should be applied, and as such some of the hardware was, let us just say "a bit spicy"

which if you're running cheap mesh is a worrying notion, i still have that pair somewhere with a nice dent in them and i'm lucky the particular set of generic chinese goggles actually had good enough strength to them, i've seen other types of mesh that i'm not so sure would have stopped the same kind of impact.

there's also the issue with bb shattering, nuprol bb's for example have a nasty reputation.

of course it's not like regular eyepro is immune either, some of the EN166 stuff is only rated for 0.86J which whilst it often is stronger and ok for airsoft, isn't immune from cracking.

as with all things it's a balance of risk, good quality mesh is probably just fine, i mean i never run a facemask and just accept that some day i might lose a tooth for that decision.

21 years ago, had my first game but my old man bought guns for my bro, him and I back in 1994 from Battle Orders, Dad used to have real steel firearms but handed them in when new regs came in after Dunblane and Hungerford.

2.what would your callsign be?

Never had one in all these years of playing.

3. What would your primary and secondary gun be (optional third)?

Primarys depend on the site,

AUG for woodland,

M4 (proper block 1 M4 not one of these modern everyone calls it an M4 as its AR shaped guns) for CQB

SToner 63a for woodland in the summer when i SEAL it up.

SIdearm is my TM USP, though don't tend to bother unless its a cqb game

4. What Battle dress Uniform (BDU) and gear would you use?

Generally Viper OG kit, as thats the current team look..

I also use Auscam (DPCU for woodland and DPNU for CQB on occasion.)

ERDL and Jeans for SEAL kit in the summer.

5. If you could use rubber melee weapons, what would it be? 

I sometimes carry a cold steel KA-Bar

6. What’s your favorite and least favorite game mode? 

game mode?. this a video game now??

I always have my own. hunt down the enemy.

 too many funny moments to mention,

Worst: Dislocating my arm 2 hours into a milsim.

Ultra rare Australian Clearance diver patch.

Thales EF88 (current issue Australian Rifle)

10. What do you see as a step forward, for the game, in the future? 

Continuing good humour, less pricks thinking they know it all after 4 years of playing just because they have a YT Chanel... hell I don't know it all and i've been playing over 2 decades.

I miss the days at Ambush Wargames Eversley, sinvce then Battle Lakes (mainly as i used to play there before it was a site, my mates dad owns the land) and Imperium Battlegrounds.

3. If you could be sponsored by only one Airsoft company, which one? Are they top of the range and will give me free stuff? Nah your OK.  Having the option of upgrading the current pew sound good (really it's asg, a new evo and kit would be nice)
