I'll get both eventually.

The AK boi is probably going to be a Cyka, gives me more margin for upgrades opposed to E&L, although the latter aren't even that expensive from GunFire (€250ish).

The VFC based ones, that is. I think they are 100% TM compatible anyway, right? Are Cymas that much worse externally than say an E&L/LCT?

Leaning towards the 74u currently

For the mk18, I was thinking the polymer body one. Not because of price but because I don't want the extra weight of a metal receiver.

the lower end ones tend to be aluminium externals, lighter but not as strong. the lct's/e&l's have proper blued steel.

Skara

Safe to assume the 0.45 (74u) falls under the "lower end" category, right?

Adolf Hamster

yeah, i'm not saying it won't be a perfectly good shooter, it'll be just fine, it's just it won't weigh a ton and have dat blued finish.

Then the real question is: do I want it to look good?

*stares at his pink honey badger/arp9 abomination*

Most likely I won't give a crap about the blued finish, I'm not really into aesthetics.

in that case a cyma/jg is gonna shoot pretty much just as well

That will be a very nice gun indeed.

I need me a full length one to put the pk-a onto

Skara

Fuck me that's nice.

The internals seem great too (apart from the first review on GF with the snapped bevel).

Do they fit Lonex flash mags?

Also I kinda wanted to put a mosfet in there. I know it's unnecessary unless I decide to run 11.1s, but having a warfet with an extremely snappy semi but a low-ish rps would be great.

@Skara Havent got a clue. Pretty sure they fit CYMA High Caps and Mid Caps better then the E&L Mid Caps (Which are terrible).

Internals are lovely, better then LCT, though I think fit and finish can be not as good as the LCT, so if you get a lemon, you may need to fettle it a little bit.

I am hoping to grab an E&L next month.

I find cyma mid caps work very nicely in my e&l.

The internals on those guns are very nice, the only thing i would consider is that they're built to have a respectable rof on a very heavy spring, so down to our limits they can be a bit too fast with the stock motor and a gutsy battery.

A warfet would work nicely, drop the rof if needed. Although it'll be sufficiently snappy that a very basic non ab mosfet would work well too.

The important thing is internals aside, it'll be beautiful, blued steel and oiled wood.

E&L would stretch me budget a bit :( if you factor in mags, mosfet and all that it's going well over €300

I think I'll stick to cyma, it won't have a super pretty and realistic receiver but as I said it's not something I particularly care about.

I'll get a more detailed comparison later

So.

By getting the cyma I'll have a larger margin on upgrades (mosfet, better internals). We know it's a good little gun but may need some tweaks off the bat.

By getting the E&L i will have nice internals to begin with but I will have to stretch to buy a mosfet right away (warfet and Perun v3 optical are on the same price bracket of €80). And 300 more grams of glorious Fatherland metal to carry around.

The question is: do I really need a mosfet right away?

I feel like we(I)'ve been "indoctrinated" to think that a mosfet or some kind of fcu is mandatory...

Adolf Hamster
Adolf Hamster
you won't need it right away.

the main reason in the long term is to protect the trigger contacts from burning out, but it's not like v3 trigger units are rare nor expensive.

hell even just the most basic cheap mosfet will do the job, i'm running that on the jg aksu and that thing's a bloody demon. just be careful with simpler ab mosfets they have a nice habit of getting the trigger to lock on semi.

@Skara internals can be replaced easily. Externals are much harder to find and replace. Get the E&L, mosfet can come later. The E&L has a much better motor then the CYMA so trigger response and ROF should be much better then Cyma with mosfet.

E&L it is then.

Gun + 4 midcaps should set me back €270 shipped.

I'll order tomorrow, hoping that your discount code is still active @Asomodai. If not, rip €300 :(

The mk18 can wait at this point, bday is on July and I don't think I'll be able to play before September or something (depends on how this lockdown lifting goes. Should be able to play in 2 weeks but I'll be taking my sniper and gay badger with me).

I may even change my mind about it and go for a bog standard A1 or mod 0.

The code should be good til the end of the month. Not 100% but pretty sure.

Adolf Hamster

good choice.

if you wanna go for a basic mosfet then something like the gate nanoasr isn't too expensive and at least if you go to the effort of wiring it in proper then you can swap out for a warfet later if it takes your fancy with minimal fuss.

Skara

Cheers, I'm concerned about the actual battery space, I know my 7.4 will most likely fit, but what about a standard 11.1 taking into account the bulk of an external fet?

Because then I can decide between getting the nanoasr + warfet later on or going directly towards a Perun V3.

Adolf Hamster

i run some 800mah 11.1s' in my aksu, bit tight under the handguard but a full length ak should have more space.

you just gotta be neat with your wiring.
