It's a strange one, I love teching my guns and even building from scratch with no base like both my L119's. My Sniper is an L96 based on a well MB08, but I've gone right through it and done loads of work and fitted selected upgrades and it now does everything I want it to. I don't Snipe often, usually take it with me but if there are too many snipers I leave it in the safe zone and go and play sneaky assaulter . The thing is that there are loads of people who don't tech their own guns for various reasons. so the option to buy something that is 'upgraded' out of the box appeals , there must be 4 SSG's at our local site now and a couple of SRS's . When I do snipe I get a real buzz from tricky kills with a gun that I know literally inside out, I'd never get that with an SSG. There do seem to be vast numbers of people sniping though, I assume that's something to do with video games ? many of who haven't got a clue about what sniping is. I guess it's horses for courses , those of us who would rather build and fettle their own guns will and those who wouldn't will keep Novritsch in business .

The saving grace is the guys running round with SSG's and a cheap chinese leaf suit generally couldn't hit a barn door at 10 meters and are often the ones getting frustrated because "I hit him 5 times" when in reality they are dropping 10M short. Luckily as they haven't poured half their soul into building said rifle it'l likely be on the classifieds in a month or 2 anyway.
Good write up though, nice to see some honest feelings.

I can see the appeal for some people, but sniping is not for everyone. I had a go on my mates (shitty stock) sniper with a sight on it like the hubble telescope and hated it, I could see the other side of the site through this thing but couldnt hit anyone as the scope outranged the gun :D  I was frustrated and went back to playing sneaky sniper hunter instead which was more fun imo.

I do appreciate a nice sniper rifle though and am drawn to them so maybe one day I will pick one up, but having no desire or ability to tech or upgrade it myself I also feel I wont. Who knows

A decent article though and I agree and again its mostly why I wont buy a sniper rifle, a DMR on the other hand, your right. You can match or get near as dammit to sniper range in a well put together gun with semi auto and if used right can dominate an area must like a couple of snipers could and im ny opinion would be a more fun way to play.

Nothing beats sneaking up on people using a SMG though :D

Thank Noviboi and Licking Custard.

Proper sniping isn't for everyone, it doesn't net you 500 kills per game and most of the time it ends up with the sniper talking into the radio for most of the time.

I'm no serious sniper myself, but I call a good day the one in which I've managed to stay hidden and alive.

Even if it means holding 90% of the shots.
