  • Its about time I supported the site. Grabbed myself a patch :D OD though, don't want anything too loud :P

Will be playing Airsoft Plantation on the 21st of July. It's my birthday so will be joined by my missus as well and Battlebuddy and his missus, both of which haven't played before.

    Anyone else coming out?

Sounds like an excuse to me.

@Albiscuit afraid we have to pull out. my mates missus got sick overnight and he wont go. Shame as packing up both LMGS kit last night took ages. Have a good time today though!

No probs, wondered why I couldn’t find you :D

    Happy birthday though!

Sniper rifle got a TDC mod, the wheel however is pretty loose and would be easy to adjust unintentionally especially with the camo wrap on it.

There is a small soft spring underneath the wheel surrounding the screw. If I unscrewed the TDC wheel and put a stronger spring underneath, should that solve the problem?

Alternatively, can I just take the wheel and screw out and just replace with an allen key grub screw?

I'd probably go with the grub screw having said that could you put a bit of PTFE tape on the thread of the one you have now so its harder to turn?

@clumpyedge Yeah I will try some PFTE first, though I will probably go with an M4 Grub screw as I carry an Allen key with me at all times whilst skirmishing anyway (If my DMR locks up on semi I have a hole in the side of the receiver so I can poke something in and catch the cut off lever.)

In fairness once set you shouldn't need too much messing about in the field

I have found a brand new SRC XM8 (Gen2) out in the wild in Europe... Hmm, should I grab another? :D

If you don’t want it I would ! I’m still running my ACM one from waaaasy back in the past ! ?

My ICS L85 succumbed to the gradual loosening of the selector screw. This causes the rifle to go into full auto even on Semi. Usually you need to tighten up the screw on the other side of the selector. Unfortunately this screw is very easy to round off the head due to it's size.

Fired off an email to ICS asking for the exact screw size and they say they are working on a retrofit permanent solution.

The screw is a Countersunk, M2, 8mm with .4 thread pitch. Ordered a bunch.

There are multiple fixes for this. I could never get any of them to work in my G&G L85 though.

A buddy put SR25 gears into the box(slight modification if I remember correctly), and that solved the issue permanently.

I had one machined but it cost £50 at mates rates and that was far too much in my eyes.

Apparently there is a way to prevent it with a certain battery and motor set up... can’t remember anything about this though.

Struggling to find a Saturday Skirmish for this weekend coming in the South East. Want to avoid anyplace I have played before. Throw out your ideas!

@Lasbrisas17 Have you played Gunman camp Bravo? Any good?

This is my first time, so I shall find out on sunday. Heard some people say its good though.

My ride has pulled out, so looks like I wont be playing this weekend anyway!

I could always go to Tactical in Croydon though :P

Managed to convince my BattleBuddy to buy the new TM AK47 Type 3 Recoil whilst at CamoRaids today. The Recoil is soft, but the sound is bloody gorgeous!

If he needed persuading, then get away from him ! as quickly and as far as you can ! sounds like he’s infected with the insidious disease that is  ‘will power’ ! ?

Ahh yes, i've heard of this will-power, think it's a birth defect iirc?

Not his fault i'm sure but nonetheless he needs relinquished of temptation.

Meh GHK AK Master Race > Japanese plastic knitting machine :P

My first double header tomorrow! Morning and afternoon skirmish outdoors at a "mystery" location for an all new South East Tour review and a rare evening at Bunker 51 CQB to keep the UKARA ticking over.

So I had a good if limited time at the Night time battlesim recently. I am unsure if I can write a fair review. Basically, 25 people who booked in never showed up. 40 showed up with half leaving before 3AM because they were not equipped properly and the sim was called off. On the fence about whether to write it up!

Hope you were refunded appropriately. If you were still standing and the organiser cancelled then that’s not your fault.

    Albiscuit
    @Steveocee Totally agree!

I think a review is needed, but put in there what to bring as it may help people attending the next one :D

Bugger, my completely upgraded MG36 gearbox is perfect, great rate of fire on just a 9.6mah NimH, not much noise considering whats going on inside.

Unfortunately shooting at 365 FPS on a weak M95 strength ASG Spring. I think I must have done a decent job on the air seal!

Hopefully going for an M90 or M85 wont cause double feed on single shot as its pretty close to doing that already!

    maybe a wide bore barrel?

    Asomodai
    Asomodai
I may need to go that route. I could cut down my current 400mm barrel, but I had matched it with a 4/5 Cylinder. We'll see how the spring change will do.

I would prefer something more efficient then anything and wide bores go against all of that IMO :)

So I require a Red torch for my up coming night battlesim, to preserve my natural night vision.

I don't want to spend money...

I took my torch (Which I made a bunch of new lenses out of roughly cut Chinese takeaway Tupperware boxes as the original plastic one broke) and coloured it in with permanent red marker.

Seems to do the job. If I want to make it redder then I will put layers of clear Sellotape on the lense with a coating of red marker pen per layer.

Stage lighting gels can also be used and cut to size, cheap as chips on ebay and gives a more solid colour

I like the chocolate wrapper idea... Feel free to send me any left over chocolate if you cant manage to eat a whole tin!!

A year old barely used PTS PDR-C for 228 shipped worth it? Sight unseen purchase.

Its a real looker though I am aware of its short-comings. I can still get it new for 320, which makes me pause, maybe getting a brand new one to make sure there are no wear issues with the proprietary parts...

    @rocketdogbert

I trust the guy for what its worth. He had a hand in legislation for low powered air weapons and is fairly visible on the scene.

Of course the new price is not including an extra 15 quid shipping. So a 110 quid difference.

So I got the MP5 back from the tech today.

Shoots lovely and fast with its all new compression gear and barrel and the built in tracer unit for the hop is fantastic.

Unfortunately the one fault I asked to be looked at still occurs. The hop adjustment lever shakes into a neutral position within seconds of full auto. Looks like it's going back...

chuck a wee o-ring under the screw holding the hop wheel/slider on?

pretty common problem, i've even used blu tac on pistol hops to keep them in place.

    Asomodai
    Asomodai
@Adolf Hamster that's what I will tell them to do. Otherwise I may suggest to TDC mod it!

    Asomodai
    Asomodai
I have been on the phone to the tech, he'll take it back and look into a direct TDC mod. Takes out all the inherent issues of the MP5 hop unit.

Anyone got an opinion on Maple Leaf AEG 6.02 barrels? Usually would go with ZCI ones, but the lengths I want are out of stock and quite hard to get hold of (Over 509mm)

The MP5 is ready to ship back to me after a delay. They also knocked a-lot of money off of the work to say sorry. I am paying much less then I though I would be! Pretty happy bunny :)

They also offered to help with the work on one of my other RIFs that is currently with another retailer to be fixed.

Amazing ! Me thinks there’s a very good chance the possibility of being named and shamed on a forum for the quite exclusive market they work in has had a positive effect for you ?

    Asomodai
    Asomodai
@Druid799 I actually believe its a coincidence. I sent them an email asking for an update before I posted the rant. I think the Email itself gave the impetuous to complete the work rather then the off chance of them seeing that post.

Having said that, this particular retailer had me waiting less then others and responded to email enquiries fairly promptly.

And having read elsewhere I now know who it was ! ?

have to say of recent I have heard a few negatives about there services being not as good as it used to be , shame really as they used to have such a good rep and if I did need to buy in the U.K. they were always my first port of call .

Got up early to go to Tactical in Croydon as it was the only site I could visit this month because of scheduling. Charged my batteries, all dressed up with bus times in hand, walked to the end of the road and turned back around back into the house and unpacked.

Even if I could get there in time the safe zone is too small and I might be setting up on the ground etc. It was the only site I have ever left from early before, 2 and a half hour journey on underground, southern rail, bus and a 40 minute walk.

Cant be arsed. Maybe I'll book into Bunker 51 for tonight if I feel like it.

Havent played in months, and April weekends have already been booked with family and work stuff, I got so desperate I was thinking of a game at Bunker 51 too..

But came to my senses :D

    Asomodai
    Asomodai
@Albiscuit I decided against that too. Though there is talk of a gas and spring night soon which I'll be up for!
