They have the least App support out of the 3 mobile operating systems so depends what you use it for.

I wouldn't get a windows phone, they're worse than iPhones (and that's saying something)

Android only mainly coz its fairly idiot proof - until nature makes a better idiot. Plus Dual Sim for me on xt1068 - not 4g but I'll live with that until next year

Windows phone for business is great if you use Office 365 etc. But if it's personal use, Android all the way :)

android all the way then, been looking at a panasonic FZ-X1 as I seem to go through phones. that one seems to be of a high quality with a strong processor.

As someone who has owned both (I had a Galaxy 2 before I got a Windows Phone), I agree that Windows has faaar fewer apps. It does have all the essentials though- FB, Twitter, Spotify, Netflix, etc. (cont)

Personally, I prefer the user interface of Windows to Droid- mainly because I find it far easier to access everything when I need to. It's like running W8 on a touchscreen- perfectly executed. That said, I can see how it can be polarizing especially if you are coming straight off a Droid or iPhone.

It's all down to personal choice though. If you want loads of games, go Droid any day. If you want a more business oriented device that is incredibly easy for app development- in my opinion anyway.

it is for personal use with occasional note taking and dictaphone style. a couple of games and movies would be nice.

Maybe a Phablet like the Samsung Note series and some of the Google Nexus phones would be good for you? Movies are nicer on the bigger screens and the Note series are brilliant for note taking (pun not intended)

The problem is I use my kit quite heavily (I'm quite clumsy and sometimes ham fisted), recently I fell and effectively exploded my iphone in it's otterbox (thank god for warranties) I've also gone through griffon and SLXtreme cases and they all last 6-12 months before being unuseable.

Size wise, I'm quite happy watching youtube on my iphone (with is a 4inch screen), so 5in I'm quite happy with, plus I expect that by the time I have to change this one the size fad will...
