How often do you plan to go abroad boarding? Where do you plan to go? Winter sports are barely a full time hobby these days, hire kit at resorts is stupid cheap these days, look at Eastern europe for snow, half the price of the 'big resorts' I go a couple of times a year but it's still limited to about 4 months a year at best dude

I manage both; there's a handful of decent indoor 'real snow' slopes in UK and they cost similar amount to a days airsoft. although depends how much cash you got and your gear:idea ratio for both snowboarding and airsoft.

a full day lesson last week whilst in manchester. There's an indoor slope about an hour half away and a decent looking dry slope about half hour away. I've put my golf clubs on ebay and might sell off my back up TM mp5. The plan is to get away a few times next winter.

Depends, eastern Europe is good for the beginner from what I see and read the resorts can be a little small/limited. So keeping me entertained for a whole week would probably be a challenge as I'm used to having the run of some of the bigger resorts. But for someone starting out they are a great choice. I may well look at going to one next year with my other half who has only had a single full week on snow. You could work out there if you have skills. I did a season as a ski guide for a b...

British company. Pay isn't great (basically covers beer), but you get a free (shared) room, lift pass, rental equipment, transport there and back and most do food as well. There are loads of different jobs the simplest with the best chance of time on snow is plongeur, dish washer in bar/restaurant/hotel kitchens.

Would be cool to do something like that but I already ask my work for a sebatical next year to travel and it got rejected. I can't just leave either when I've got a mortgage to pay :(

I've been snowboarding 20 years now. It doesn't have to be expensive. Right resort, right time of year, cheap flights, a few friends. Go early or late season to high resorts, Val Thorens etc. Some indoor slopes do monthly passes but generally best to keep visits down to one or two a year if on a budget.
