does your local site do refills?

because if not it's gonna be more of a ballache keeping an hpa running.....

go GBB, the true airsoft form ;)

I don't think my local does refills...but plenty of scuba shops around W/Midlands i'd imagine. (I see a lot of people running HPA..will enquire with them)  :)   **Saw a very nice HK 416 Gas rifle on Sunday and the recoil on it was very nice, but after the guy telling me what he had to do with getting it running good....well, kinda put me off.  :)

tbh most gbbs dont require what you see/hear

I have assembled a few hpa   Rifs. My recommendation is to get an mtw.

If it wasn't so damn expensive here I'd have bought one too!

the issue with the dive tank is it's a lot more stuff to lug around in the back of the car, kind of what's put me off running the hpa's now.

GBB in UK is a mixed bag. If you want something that'll put a smile on your face, go HPA. There are still viable GBB platforms though, but they're few and far between.

A guy was using a HPA tippman (however that's spelt) on Saturday. He had a scuba air tank in the back of his car which he used to fill up a smaller tank which was strapped to his back... It just looked like too much faff to me... Plus you have the hose running out of the tank into the HPA rifle.. bang goes your ability to run around and jump over walls and roll around the bushes..... right?

As usual I need to note: Try it, borrow it, do whatever you can to not just observe it. The number of times I've heard people look at it and go "oh that's too much effort" without actually doing it is mad. By extension almost everyone I know who now uses HPA exclusively thought like this at some point. If your only reservation is that it looks like a faff on game day (and not the high upfront cost, limited range, learning new mechanics, possibly having to go a long way to fill your dive tank, probably selling all your AEGs etc.) then you really have very little problem with it at all in my experience.

There are loads of valid reasons not to use HPA, but one of the weaker is that it's inconvenient to play with, because it simply isn't something you notice after about 5 minutes (and filling a tank on game day takes about 30 seconds).

i really dont see the issue with GBBs in the UK. its a myth you cant run them in winter

whilst i do agree with proffrink that for the most part the whole air-line thing is nonsense, it's no different to having a sling on the gun. and granted the tank itself is extra weight you get a decent rig to hold it securely then it's not a problem.

personally though i've sort of shifted out of the way of it back to aeg's now. coming out of lockdown with very limited access to air meant i was leaning on my wee jg aksu and having a gun you just slap a battery into and go is rather handy and having pursued perfection in terms of performance i've learned to be happy with good enough.

that said, the combination of mk23 levels of silence and range with trigger response that outstrips a titan'd dsg in a gun that more often than not will still be working at the end of the day does have it's attractions.

Proffrink has made some valid points. In fact I can’t argue with anything he’s said. You’re right. One needs to try it and see. I got talked out of buying a MWS coz I was told it would be inconsistent and wouldn’t  really be any good in the cold weather and that I should stick to my recoils. But this is a story for my status lol.

@DestrO It can depend. In the days I was using GBBs (maybe 8 years ago now) I found most of the truly 'fun' ones with a decent amount of recoil were very difficult to run despite my best efforts. I understand the MWS and similar have removed some of that friction, but they just don't kick like HPA (Daytonas in particular) at all.
