Selling rifs

You can check UKARA legitimacy by calling FireSupport 01733 247171 and asking if a UKARA matches the name/address of the buyer.
(You need the name and address to post anyway so doesn't violate privacy policy)

In the past I have covered myself by asking the buyer without UKARA to put their name at the bottom of a statement saying "I will use this 'item name' for legal airsoft use only"
Better than nothing if a legal violation comes back to you. 🤷‍♂️

I’d have brought it if you accepted a sportsman association with insurance as defense. So there was definitely a market place for the product, But each to there own with beliefs on what is an acceptable form of defense. Personally I think any retailer only accepting UKARA needs a shake as in 2026 there’s many other reasons to own a RIF.

FYI I have since purchased a similar item and the seller didn’t ask about UKARA, in fact only 1 person has ever brought it up on the form but that’s a credit to that persons morals.

Maybe update what defense is acceptable to you and I’m sure there’s a buyer out there.

Your marketing pictures are decent.

I won’t mention the retailers name but I just purchased a RIF and it got delivered without them requesting copies of my defense (which I did think was crazy).

Seems a sensible middle ground to me. For example I haven't bothered to check ukara when selling in person at the Airsoft field as I can see they have a legitimate use and are actually an adult.

One time I ordered a two tone pistol and it turned up full black

In my early collecting days I had a few orders show up without two tone, a Famas was one then my FN2000 from the same seller a wee while later.

You don't need ukara to buy or sell second hand rif's as a private person and proves nothing overall. Good/bad intentions can't be measured by a number. I wouldn't sell a RIF to an underaged kid but that's a different story altogether.

Legally how would any of us would be responsible for someone else's action? This ever happened actually or we're just making up stories here for silly arguments?

I think in the day and age we live in, where someone can push a narrative for their own political gain, it's safer to at least "appear" to be conscious of the imitation firearms legislation because if you made no effort, and some idiot did go on to do something silly with a used purchase from here or any forum, a political deviant could very easily ask for a more restrictive policy to be put in place, with very little actual benefit.

I've had members ask me for proof I airsoft, so photos of kit etc, which I think is reasonable. As long as you're demonstrating you have the intention to not use it for anything stupid, it keeps the hobby as far away from daft policy makers who don't have a clue what they're doing in the first place.

The part I find ridiculous is we need UKARA to buy an airsoft RIF, yet you can go and buy hunting knives, swords and Airguns with nothing but a age verified ID and they can cause significantly more damage if misused (like the dude who got shot in the head with an air rifle the other week)

Definitely, you can have 2 identical guns, one firing a .6mm plastic bb at relatively low power, one firing a .177 steel bb with a a lot more power and risk of a much nastier injury if abused, you need a defence for the airsoft version but anyone over 18 can buy the airgun version. It’s always treated as a nonsense when you try to explain the rules to potential new members at my club.
