THE TM MWS thread

Trying to put the buffer tube back on but this silver bit in the picture is causing a problem.
It just wants to pop out at the bottom meaning the top part lifts up and I cant rotate the buffer tube.
I cant find any videos online showing this part going back on.
Can anyone help? :)
Is that a third party accessory? That looks like it fits in the gap at the bottom of the buffer tube and the smaller circular hole of the lower receiver like the sling plate should.

No, its stock TM mk18, its meant to fit in there i think but its almost impossible to get it set in there properly

Hi i've got a couple of questions about my mws. I've installed the supernub and short stroked my buffer spring with a spacer. Rest of the internals are stock.
  1. Are there any other upgrades that are a must in 2026?
  2. When do you switch to the enhanced nozzle spring, right away or when the stock one breaks?
  3. People say to switch the hop arm to a laylax one, why is this and is it needed?

I'd say an NPAS is a good upgrade to give yourself flexibility to control your gas pressure as temperatures rise. It'll also give you the fleixbility to use red and black gas when it gets colder so you gun cycles while you're still within site limits. The Federal Concepts, Jaeger Precision and Waldo Dynamics versions all work nicely in TM nozzles. With DE nozzles, the JP NPAS from older batches will need to be sanded down a little bit to fit.

Hop bucking is a good upgrade too. Either the 4UANTUM Industries 4UAD or the Flamingo 60 are worth considering.

2. When do you switch to the enhanced nozzle spring, right away or when the stock one breaks?

It's up to you. Stock is perfectly fine for many people and they run it until it breaks. Some people have a fixation on "upgrading" everything without being able to specify why they're doing it. If you can't name what's wrong with your stock nozzle spring, is it worth upgrading?

3. People say to switch the hop arm to a laylax one, why is this and is it needed?

Whether it's needed is debatable as people have different playing styles or shoot in different environments.

The stock hop arm does have somewhat limited movement so your range can be limited using it, especially when you use heavier ammo. The Laylax hop arm gives more hop so you can lift heavier ammo to a much greater distance.

I was looking for the RA TECH NPAS but that one is always out of stock. Gonna check the other ones you suggested. Do you like DE or TM nozzle better? i have some TM spares i bought a few years ago.

For now im still using the TM one, do you think it works good with the SixG Brass nub? I might get the other ones you said and do some testing.

Some people say when you break the original it might be a pain in the ass to get the bolt out, so i guess ill upgrade it to prevent that.

Do you think it's a must for .3g bb's? My field doesn't allow more than that but i now only tested .28g and seems to work just fine. I'd like to go to .3g though.
Does the laylax hop arm combine well with TM bucking or should you change it out then?

I've heard other bucking need other nubs and arms but i'm not why that is.

Do you mean the all in one nozzle and NPAS or the drop-in NPAS for RA Tech? The former uses a different tool to your normal Allen key and its nozzle isn't the most robust. It's not serviceable either so if its return spring fails, you may have to replace the whole unit. The drop-in NPAS is a bit fiddly to adjust compared to those by Feda, JP and Waldo.

Playing devil's advocate will it prevent that as third party nozzle springs can also break? I've experienced failures with third party nozzle springs myself.

Some bucking works better with different arms and nubs because of the contact point inside where it touches the BB.

I haven't used that hop arm personally with TM bucking. I prefer those I mentioned plus the Maple Leaf Decepticon.

Whether it's a must depends on the range you're shooting over. You may be able to lift 0.3g but not necessarily to the same distance as you can with 0.28g. 0.32g and above is where you really should look at a different bucking both for range and accuracy.
