I was just taking the piss - some DBoys exteriors are very good
Yeah me too, i dont want magpul stuff any where near my rifle but i know trig cant stand it haha

I reckon most guns want an upgrade to make them as competitive as possible, and dboys is tm compatible on the inside so its all good

Its not nice to try and trick me. I have feelings you know Im a sensitive soul.
Your not wrong all guns need tweaking to get the best out of them even the much lauded Tm recoils.

(The plan is to fit this switch assembly in place of that on the 502B Mouse Tail above, because I can't find one ready made for a 502B and having a latch option is much more important on an IR torch: when you're in pitch blackness relying on NVG you really don't need to have to remember to keep your finger pressure on the pad whilst stressed, but having multiple options, for eg the ability to quickly blink through the presses needed to make the 502B strobe IR and really ruin the day of opposition using NVG is one time where multi-mode torches could prove disproportionately useful to their cost. If it works well and feels comfy I'll probably get another for my C8.)

The trouble with these Oslon type IR emitter LED's is that they also give out a faint red visible light, so I may end up having to fit an IR pass filter to the torch, which in a way defeats the purpose of using an IR LED, since i could have just fitted the poxy filter to one of my existing visible light torches! But then again I expect that you get much better battery time out of an LED which mostly emits just the spectrum you want than using more power and filtering it. I dunno if the red glow is even sufficiently bright to need filtering IRL mind, has anyone got any relevant experience?
The glow will be naked eye visible from directly in front of you, from the sides it'll be all but indetectable, it IS visible to someone who's been in the dark for a while though. As for the IR filter, I wouldn't bother; I tried it with a near-IR laser and because the filter only allowed true-IR through the output was massively reduced to the point where it wasn't even worth using. Filtering a visible spectrum LED torch is also relatively pointless, the output range of a 'white' LED is really narrow (they also tend to be towards the blue end of the spectrum) and very little IR is emitted to even get through the filter. Incandescent bulbs are another matter entirely, they kick out LOADS of IR and work great with a filter, but at the cost of brilliance in the visible spectrum.

Sadly, even going high-end on IR emitters doesn't really help, even a surefire KM3 dual vis/IR head gives off a very dull glow in IR mode. For what you're after, especially the IR strobing (which will 100% mess with gen1 NVGs, less so autogated gen3) the torch you've got there will almost certainly do the business.

Ordered myself some Kydex on a whim... will probably go terribly.

I bought the same. What's wrong with it? My disk runs fine but I've not programmed anything as I'm waiting for a replacement handset. If it's an issue of the software not booting or something I could upload a copy of mine.
