ICS L85A2 - hop up unit screws?

Hi there

I've found quite a few things wrong with my ICS (like the spring shooting at 310FPS with 0.2, motor does not have ICS trademarks, etc.)

I've now found something else. Was watching Ed's video and the hop unit is attached to the outer barrel by two small screws on each side.

my hop up and inner barrel are loose inside the outer barrel. The outer barrel has the screw holes, but the hop unit does not have that "star" looking outer piece of plastic where the screws go through.

Is this a newer design, or did someone tamper with this as well?

mine doesnt have anything fixing the inner barrel/hop assembley in, but there should be a small spring around the inner barrel that pushes the assembley back into the gearbox, effectivley holding it in place (if not, try tightening the screws in the butt-pad to make sure the gearbox can't shift back)

my motor also has no trades, but its still the ICS turbo 3000

Yes the spring is there and it does work quite well. The inner barrel however can still rotate about 1mm on either direction if applied some pressure and am not sure how much of an impact in accuracy this might be. I'll see if tightening the screws might improve it.

well once the gun is together, the barrel shouldnt be able to move itself, and you cant apply pressure anyway (unless youre twisting the hop wheel too hard)

it doesnt matter if the hop unit it twisted slightly one way, sure it will send all your shots slightly to one side, but all you need to do, is adjust your sights for windage/elevation at the start of the day (not a hard job) and then its as good as if it were shooting perfectly.

if it really bothers you, you can wrap some tape around the inner barrel so that it fits snugly in the outer barrel
