We have to first find the difference between Tactical and Tacticool.

Tactical is the serious side where appropriate equipment is used to carry out a mission where life is in danger and careful planning and communication is necessary.

This means using appropriate weapon from CQB to marksman.  Ballistic protection etc. 

Tacticool is the airsoft version where equipment is not critical but looks good ?  ie MP5 with drum mag can be as effective as an M60.  Ballistic protection is unnecessary.

BUT tactics still play a part where careful movement, planning and communication are key.

Then we get to speed-soft or speed-paintball which seems more like suicide runs with spray hoses where sacrificing one player for more than one on the other team is a winning strategy ?

Like I said, if that's your thing then fine with me but I'm glad they're separate...

When I posted this up i did it simply to show a form of Airsoft that was the total antithesis of what I want from the game nothing more nothing less . 

Not attacking the players for the fact they were playing it , there style of dress or the guns used just the fact to me (emphasis on the ME) it’s just pointless and I just don’t see any real skill to it that’s all . Any one wants to feel free to play ? crack on ! BUT don’t get all upset and huffy with another player who doesn’t think it’s the killer thing you do and they say so , if you do your going to get attitude right back at you AND then we’re right back on the roundabout again !?‍

I'm more looking for middle ground than to say if it's right/wrong or to define what tactical means.

You can't please everyone but some concessions from each "group" could maximize the potential size of the player base.

Speed and Skill should be "rewarded", but that style attracts criticism, why?

I see it like this:

Speedsoft = CoD

Battlesim = Battlefield (middle ground)

Milsim = ArmA

Now a slightly more CoD-leaning middle ground might be like Star Wars Battlefront.

I know very little about Battlefield and nothing about Arma

Rather than “Speedsoft=CoD”, I would call it kids ruining CoD for the old people

That also relates more to “speedsofters” on a skirmish than a tournament 

(Therefore - those who madly run around the field)

At a general purpose walkon skirmish you may get any mix of player types (probably the locals), and then at particular events it may filter down a little to more refined players.  (Such as ‘soft’ or ‘hard’ MilSim - soft/hard being how strict the game structure / target audience is)

This thread highlights speedsofters playing a speedsoft tournament.

There is no need for any player to make concessions to meet the opinions of another player.

It may look like that with casual viewing, but keep that as a tactic and the sacrificed players are going to be knocking down your averages.

eg:

a win scores the main score

tie breakers come from the difference between live players on each side

I have heard numerous players looking at the scoreboard saying they were only one point away from podium ..... forgetting to mention that they drew with 5+ other teams one point away.

I really do not like the look of speedqb. I think your comment Seth, about if they were dressed differently then people wouldn't mind so much is nonsense, they seem dressed right. It looks way to hyperactive and even watching it is unenjoyable, like modern action films that change scenes 10 times every second so you have no idea what the fuck is going on other than its given you a headache but kids think it's wickid innit. 

Put the guns down, drink a cup of sunny d and play 'it'

I have played against and with a lot of the speedsofters in the UK including some of the legion team members, so here is my take.

Speed qb is definitely something with potential and has it's place. While some speedsofters can take the piss at skirmishes the better ones who really represent the organised speed qb side do adjust their play to suit skirmishing and in my experience have played and behaved exemplary.

I think the general hate is because they play for the sake of playing not the roleplay and that upsets the more larpy players. There is also the fact that they in  my experience the good ones outplay most general skirmishers. I enjoyed going against them as they tested my ability and made me have to play better instead of the usual autopilot fodder shooting.

Pacing is one for sure, you can't force players not to run so the environment would dictate that somehow.

Rushing from one side to the other, random starting points could fix that.
