Best movie for shooting action/gunporn?

No, that’s Lone Surviver.

Also a great film for a bit of operator as fuck yo!

If you shaved off their operator beards, they'd have a backup operator beard underneath.

We Were Soldiers is worth a watch, from before Mel Gibson went full cuckoo bananas.  Although screenplay and direction is by Randall Wallace of Braveheart infamy, who never met a piece of history that he couldn't "improve".

I think it would just grow back as you were shaving it

I thought Sicario was a real letdown, I had high expectations of it and remember being a bit peed off with after seeing it. Just my opinion though
Yeah Sicario was shite. I was falling asleep through it, then it ended and I was like "oh. that's it? ok."

For gunporn action shootemup good old fashioned badassery, there's always the Expendables. Also The A Team, the Matrix trilogy, 13 Hours is good, haven't seen 12 strong yet. WW2-wise, Enemy at the Gates, Saving Ryan's Privates, and if you have the stamina, a start to finish marathon of Band of Brothers. Vietnam-wise, We Were Soldiers has TONS of war action, pretty gnarly too. Black Hawk Down.... hmmm I'm looking at our DVD wall trying to think of others

You totally missed out Hacksaw ridge. That’s an awesome film.

While not necessarily gunporn, theres a shitload of non English films worth seeing (if you don't mind subtitles), Brotherhood, Days of Glory, 9th Company etc.

No doubt Hacksaw Ridge is a brilliant film, highly recommend it to anyone who likes war films, but personally I think it's not really a shoot em up "gunporn" film though.

Speaking of which, Clive Owen in Shoot 'em Up!

John Wicke any one ? But all time favourite gun scene, final battle in Zulu , lined up in front of the redoubt as the Zulus charge in for the kill and Stanley Bakers screams

“1st rank fire !”

“2nd rank fire !”

“3rd rank fire !”

And then silence !

Loving the wick films, roll on #3, Keanu is a cool mofo, check out street kings, he's very good in that.

I recently watched 12 Strong and thought it was a pretty damn good film, good action and the guns I Love!

Tactical bump, I guess, since I've just watched it.  I thought it was fair to middling execrable.

The characterisation, such as it was, felt obvious and hackneyed.  They even had a Sand Short Round in there just to give the Fremen one face that you could actually recognise and supposedly care about (but sod the rest of them, they're just natives after all).

The four or five action scenes all looked to be filmed in the same dusty valley, with the Cadian Rough Riders wiping out the same mob of anonymous sand ninjas led by that evil wizard from Aladdin over and over again in much the same way.  Oh, look, there's that same MG Technical again.  The Friendly Fremen also seem to lose as many men in each engagement as they started out with, but they obviously have a respawn point close by, because they're all back in action for the next game.  I mean, scene.

Technically, it was the usual Hollywood tosh.  Shaped charges used as artillery, every shot an instakill on the mooks, Captain Thor puts a mag in (no hicap winder at least) then for some reason slaps the optic on his gun, and probably loads more that I've instantly forgotten, much like the rest of the film.

So no, not a fan.

A good gun film has the main person raid an arms cash,  fill up a bag that's too heavy for real life and never uses any of the contents for the rest of the film.

It's a magic formula....

think my fav battle action sequence has to be the one in children of men.

this !

For the sound if nothing else !

its an absolute classic, so good in fact that after watching it I went out & bought a star fnc, same as Pacino's character uses, one of the few guns I massively regret later selling, id buy another tomorrow ?

A class shoot out indeed. Something a bit more obscure and silly glassy eyed emo indie movie I like is "Dear Wendy" .
