Hello. I'm in this situation currently and hopefully someone understands this. My parents don't like guns, they never have, they probably never will. As they're allowing me to get an AEG in the spring, I'm on my PC a lot of the time looking at guns and reviews. Something I've noticed is that everyone's getting the CM16. My parents will only let me buy at http://www.surplusstore.co.uk/ as the shop is close and nice. I've looked at the CM16 and I've encountered a problem. It's £190, this didn't bother me too much. When we went to the shop, I spoke to the guy there. My mum thought the DE m83 was too powerful for the garden until the man explained everything. As you can tell, I'm 13. The man said (I'm paraphrasing not quoting) 'You'll need a basic gun with a full metal gearbox'. I picked up an SRC Dragon and let me have a hold. It was nice. On the way home, my mum said to me 'You can't spend hundreds of pounds on a gun you'll use twice a year' So the CM16 was ruled off. The reason the SRC was shown was because it was powerful enough to skirmish with and weak enough to use in my small garden which is about 50x50ft. I'm wondering what I should get if my budget is about £130 and only can be bought off of that site/shop. The CM16 is ruled off which sucks but hey. Its a privilage to be able to be allowed to get an AEG.

 
Hmmm a difficult predicament. However having a brief look at the site, I can see this: http://www.surplusstore.co.uk/bb-guns/realistic-bb-rifles/g-g-m4-combatmachine.html . the Combat Machine is by far one of the best starter weapons for airsoft you will find .. it is £20 over you're budget .. but if you can sway you're parents for that extra money it will be well worth the purchase and be a great little starting weapon for you.

 
Yeah, add £30 battery and charger and lets not forget two tone because I don't have a UKARA. It adds up to £190 lets not forget face protection and extra mags.

 
In fairness, you are going to be looking at around £200 to start off anyways, since no weapon on that site is under £130 .. minus the shotguns .. for a weapon, battery, charger, face protection etc .. I would say that £200 is a fair amount for a starters kit ... You don't want to know what I paid for kit when I started Airsoft 12 years ago .. I am not sure how you will achieve you're desire of a gun from that site with you're budget I'm afraid.

 
OK, so the gun cost is absent. It doesn't matter, spring is two months away and I get £20 a month. I currently have £185 so that means I'll have £225. Face protection and maybe an extra mag. So that would be £232. Would you say that there is anything else I need?

 
I am going to presume you have the right clothing and footwear ? If so then you are pretty much all set .. something you may want to consider into you;re budget is a gun bag for transportation to and from sites .. but apart from that you sound all set to go in the Spring time.

I suspect that most people that play Airsoft seriously probably play between once every fortnight and once a month.

You need to educate your parents.

Guns aren't a problem, its some of the idiots behind them that are the problem.

These are toys and participating in Airsoft allows you to socialise, get fresh air and exercise and get rid of aggression.

It amazes me how many parents will allow their offspring to play violent battlefield games in their bedrooms for six hours a day, spend hundreds on gaming consoles, become pale and withdrawn through lack of sunlight and social contact and THEN say you cant play Airsoft as its too violent.

P.S Rugby is more violent..

The thing is. It's expensive, I'm 13, I don't play battlefield, I run cross country every week and I'm top set for everything at school. I understand why people don't like guns. Its winter. My school almost closed due to flooding. Now is the worst time of year yo do everything. They let me do airsoft, its just my parents have lives and they can't keep dragging me around the place all the time.

 
You are an airsoft noob on a tight budget? I think that there's an article on here for that! You will have to let your parents know that starting up airsoft costs at least £200, if you want some decent gear, a good entry-level rifle, some spare mags (although if you get a high capacity mag or two you should be fine) and eye protection-the most important part.

On the subject of two tone, a necessary evil, try looking at ZeroOne Airsoft. They two tone ANY gun for free.

PS: I would try to convince your parents to look at other shops around the country. P&P doesn't tend to cost too much, unless you are ordering from abroad.
Quite frankly, I try not to shop exclusively at one store, because other stores may sell things at cheaper prices- case in point, the CM16 (M4 style) is only £118 (with the aforementioned free two toning) at ZeroOne.

EDIT: DO NOT shy away from Amazon when it comes to ordering a face mask! I got my face mask and goggles (see my profile photo) for £15 from Amazon. Land Warrior Airsoft, one of my local stores, were asking for £15 JUST for the goggles!

Well when my kids were 13 I would have jumped at the chance to be able to drop them off at a safe venue once a month at 0900 and not have to pick them up until 1600, knowing they would have fun, get exercise and interact with real rather than virtual people.

Cost £20 per month once you have the kit.

A big yes to the Cyma Mp5k, I'd avoid the M901c like the plaque. The M56 is great too, shells are cheap as chips, and you can hold plenty of them in your pockets.

 
Sorry, I thought I'd just point that out. Anyways, I've decided that CM16 is best and I'll save up for it.

 
Looking at Airbana, other places you could look at that aren't a million miles away are Socom Tactical http://www.socomtactical.net/airsoft-guns/professional-airsoft-guns/sub-machine-guns/asg-bt-mp5a5-aeg.html where I would suggest The ASG B&T MP5 is a good buy (it's the classic army B&T MP5 by another name). Alternatively Tactical airsoft shop has a G&G M4 for £140, including battery and charger and free 2 tone http://www.tacticalairsoftshop.co.uk/gg-cm16-carbine-dst-combo-1548-p.asp

Your best bet may however be to take your Dad along to an airsoft skirmish and hire guns. You can guarantee that the regulars will talk to him and tell him the best place to shop. He may even enjoy it enough that he keeps going. Remember if your Dad can get UKARA registered then he can buy you non-2 tone guns :)
