To SRC , or not to SRC, that is the question :

Whether 'tis Nobler in the pocket to suffer

The BB and Flash bangs of outrageous Skirmishes ,

Or to take Arms against a Sea Op For,

And by opposing end them: to die, to re-spawn.

Basically i'm looking to buy a G36 and I am confused as to which brand is best .

I want an AEG and preferably in the KV or MG format .( I would choose the KV or MG as it is still usable for CQB)

Money is not too much of an issue but I would prefer not to spend over £250 for the lot Incl. charger and half decent batt.

Finally what modifications and accessories would you recommend for this ? (I may consider buying a scope carry handle if you chaps think it is worth while)

TL;DR - I want a G36 which brand and variant is best for under £250

Thanks for the help

Joel
N.B. I will most likely be playing woodland skirmishes at Skirmish Airsoft Notts or at the Embassy or the academy ( if Jaguar LR take me on in 3 years time :) )

Never thought about Ares .

What is wrong with their wiring? Shoddy workmanship or just a pain in the the arse?

his caught fire during a skirmish but SRC are a good brand for new players or people who will fiddle with the gearbox.

Oh poop :o

Would you recommend the SRC KV variant ? I was looking at the scope/RDS carry handle which may mean i have to spend less on a Eotech clone.

Have you done any modifications to yours at all? If so may I ask which .

that is the gun i have and it is very good but if you get one check the wires in the stock to see if they are getting pinched inside the receiver. no mods.

i use an eotech clone sight on mine which is good for the ranges of airsoft guns

What sort of FPS are you hitting and is it good for CQB and woodland as it is on my criteria for buying one to have a dual purpose .

quoted 340 but in reality 360 to 380. equally suited to both environments especially if your going between CQB and woodland like on some sites, because of the folding/telescopic stock. out of the box the accuracy is acceptable. also they are easy to upgrade because they are a copy of the TM g36.

Thanks man! :)

Does anyone else have an opinion ? Can be about gun or accessories or even mods. :P

I am a well known regular from Skirmish Airsoft near Nottingham, have you played airsoft before? They have G36s as hire weapons, a mix of SRC and Classic Army. If you come down one weekend then you can check them out for yourself, the performance difference between the various different takes on the G36; KV, MG, C, K, will be negligible, so you'll be able to get a feel for how they'll shoot from the hire guns.

If you're set on a G36 then I'd say to go for the Classic Army or the KWA if you can find one. Though you'll have to research parts compatibility if you're wanting to alter any of the externals, as not all G36 specific external bits will definitely fit, depends on the brandings, so that's something to be aware of.

Skirmish also have an on site shop, soon to be a proper UK retailer under the name UK Airsoft, you can buy from them as a member before attaining UKARA, talk to Stef behind the counter about the UKARA purchase scheme, they keep the gun on site until you're eligible; but you never have to hire if you don't want to.

Additionally, they'll get just about any gun you want on site for you, and they'll match any UK price.

So come down one weekend, you can't go wrong.

Yes mine caught fire. Pretty much melted a battery.

Easy problem to foresee though, if you now know what you're looking for. My wiring had been bent and exposed, meaning it shorted on the gearbox.

Just having a quick inspection of a new one and you can see if you need to do anything to it.

This is one problem to think about, but the gun is awesome overall. Hop unit is very good, and good range and accuracy and blowback too.

The "MG" version, or to be correct the standard G36 isnt very CQB friendly. I tend to walk into walls in cqb areas since it's quite long :P

I have a src g36 gen 3 & am very pleased with the quality of it, go for it!

I have not played there yet but I am most likely play there as i have seen your videos and the place looks much better than Matlock combat games . Is it possible for a RIF to be 'gifted' to me ? as my brother is over 18 and could easily get a Ukara defense through skirmish airsoft . I hope to play against you soon :)

Yup, if he goes and signs up as a member he'll be able to buy a gun before even getting UKARA, to use on site until he does, at which point he'll be allowed to take it home. It will be stored on site in the meantime.

Once he gets UKARA he's free to gift it to you, yup.

Sweet ! I will have to now persuade / bribe him to get a UKARA and then it's mine :D

Would Stef mind if i did this ?

Unfortunately, as much as he'd love to be able to sell to more people, the buyer has to be over 18, even for two tone weapons =[

It's totally 100% legal, so yeah. Though your brother would have to play 3 games to be allowed to keep it, otherwise it would have to be kept on site forever, and I don't think they'd be willing to offer storage for a potentially infinite amount of time.
