Choosing a [First] AK for future.

Hello guys! I have finally decided to buy a AK in future but before I add the weapon into my buy list I need to know which one is better, as I was told in different topic the one I wanted to buy is "sh*tty".

So I came to you guys, I have been helped out a lot by you lads and I really appreciate it so I thought if you have some time finding or telling me if that weapon is good or not I would love you forever.

As it will be my first AEG my budget will be around 130 to 160 pounds + the possible cost of decreasing of FPS.

So here are the AK's I have found:

About CM RK47 I read that it can use "Lipo" battery, is that better than any other battery? + It has a side mount to mount optics which other does not have!

Do you know any better AK's perhaps around that range of budget as a first weapon?, any reviews on these two guns, compares? I know people say M4's are better but I really prefer AK's

P.S. Does inner barrel improve FPS or only accuracy?

EDIT: As well what kind of battery should it be using, I am not sure about CM RK47, it says it can use Lipo which I read is better then NiMh but it requires advanced players using it? should it simply be stick with 8.4v or perhaps 9.4v? but I know SRC AK47 uses 8.4v Large ((with stock))

CYMA AK's are definetely the best AK on the market (Bar the Real Sword Type 56) my buddy has had his for 5 years now and has only put a new hop rubber in, everything else is fine.

I have the 048 model, full metal and real wood, just feels great in my hands and a very nice weight to it, came in hot though at 420 FPS which I downgraded. Costs £200 for the gun though.

The 028 model is ABS instead of wood and I believe has the same internals as the 048 version, but don't quote me on that. And comes in at around £120.

Definetely the best on the market mate.

I should also say about the LiPo, most guns can use a 7.4V LiPo which will give you improved ROF and trigger response, but as a newbie stick to NiMh's until you get the experience as LiPo's can explode if not charged with the right charger.

11.1V LiPo's will tear your gearbox to shreds if not upgraded properly but again, as a newbie stick to a 9.6V NiMh. But an IMax B6 charger for £30 or so and that will charge NiMh's, and when you become more experienced, LiPo's too. Make sure you get the version with the power adapter.

This charger is a smart charger which cuts off the power to the battery when it's fully charged to prevent battery damage, the crappy wall chargers you get with some guns don't cut off the power and can damage your battery.

I'd also recommend waiting for your defence to come through if you haven't already

2. Have a look at the `reviews' section as there are a few ak reviews plus many others.

3. Go to your local site for a day's skirmish. You will pay about £20 for the day and another £20 to hire all the gear. That normally incudes some lunch and a bag of about 3000 bbs (although I saw a site that only give one mag full of bbs). Look at what other people are using and ask if you can hold them or maybe even fire if they have a range. A bag of bbs will cost £6/£7 so the hire fees are preety good.

4. Although you are looking at AKs now, you did start with two other guns in mind. What looks great in a picture may not suit you when you hold it - too heavy, too light, too long, too short.

5. Some people love LiPo batteries and others prefer NiMH. We found that a couple of 1600 NiMH batteries are fine for a full day - just change over during lunch (or charge your one battery in the breaks). You need to be a bit more careful with LiPos as you can damage them if you let the charge fall too low. I think you can buy a warning device quite cheaply that should help but one guy at our site went through 4 LiPos in a couple of skirmish days by keep firing when the charge was low - said he knew it was wrong but the game only had a few minutes to go and he had the enemy in his sight!

Thanks about that, checking Guide section made some parts clear to me like LiPo batteries are not good with beginners, inner barrel improves accuracy and range which is always good, I think I saw a site of the skirmish site of the weapons they have for rent for skirmishes but I cannot find it anymore, I saw a AK style just like G&G. The two other guns, well I was worried about the quality of SIG's by cybergun I read that its a bit weak and well its long and I do not plan doing DMR, Famas big, too big I don't like big and wide guns like Famas but I like the bullpup style.

When it comes to the guns, CM RK47, a lot of good reviews on it, has side mount as well which Cyma and SRC does not, Cyma just like RK47 same good reviews, same prices but lacks of the side mount and looks like a "rainbow" and SRC, well not much.

I have a Cyma 040 (AK-74) coming to me in the post at the moment, and I need to downgrade it as it is similarly powerful out of the box. Could I ask to what fps you downgraded it to, and what spring you used?

I like to keep all of my rifles at the 320-330 mark as it's probably the most comfortable you can get your FPS for the range of site FPS limits.

I used a guarder M90 as the AK's always tend to UP the FPS because the seals are awesome So an M100 will be over/very close to the limit of 350.

So pick up a Guarder M90 for £10 or so.
